Best cleric feats in BG3

Healers and support casters are among the most famous RPG archetypes that players have come to recognize over the years. This is also true of the modern classic Baldur's Gate 3, with its surprisingly powerful and versatile Cleric class. Everyone's favorite romance option, the Trickery Cleric Shadowheart domain, may have something to do with it too, to be honest.

Whether you want to be a reliable tank for your party and dish out healing spells left and right or you just want to grill enemies in holy light, Cleric is an extremely enjoyable class. Here are some of the best deeds you can take to make your holy servant even more effective.

11 Sentinel

Be the target

Sentinel is among the most powerful feats in the game, no matter what class or build you play. It is versatile and gives you a lot of bonuses. Sentinel focuses primarily on your attacks of opportunity, giving you additional triggers, perks, and effects on hits.

As a cleric, you'll likely be one of the characters in the group with the highest armor class (AC) and thus have an easier time canceling incoming attacks. In this case, it is very useful to keep dangerous enemies close to you and prevent them from leaving your vicinity to hurt your other party members. Sentinel is the perfect feat to do just that.

10 Hard

Maximize health

It's hard to heal your injured party mates if you're bleeding on the ground yourself. While clerics traditionally have high AC, decent HP is also invaluable. Fortunately, Tough is very helpful in this regard. It's a very simple feat, giving you two additional CP per level.

While this may seem unimportant, it's actually great in the long run. By level ten, you'll have an extra twenty HP, which can be enough to survive three to four extra hits. This can practically be the difference between victory and death, making Tough so worth it.

9 Ritual Caster

Spell Versatility

Although Clerics can be seen as the dedicated healers of any party, they are surprisingly versatile. They are capable of casting incredibly powerful spells and utility magic, however. Ritual Caster adds another dimension to their versatility, which is always welcome.

With this feat, you gain access to two ritual spells from a very useful spell list. These are all quality of life spells and include some great ones like Talk to Dead, Disguising the Selfand Find acquaintance. While not as warped as other feats on this list, Ritual Caster can be incredibly useful.

8 War Caster

Focus is the key

War Caster is a great choice for those who are less concerned with utility and want to throw your enemies back where they came from. Both give advantage to concentration saving throws and allow you to use Shocking catch the spell as an attack of opportunity.

Clerics have some of the best focus spells on their list, so War Caster feels perfect. With options like Shield of Faith, Silence, Guardians of the Spirit, banishmentmoreover, Clerics can be incredibly powerful if they can keep their focus on a particular spell at a time.

This feat does not add the Shocking Grasp spell to the spell list. So you won't be able to use it except for reaction.

7 Resistant: Constitution

Saving Throw Proficiency

Speaking of focus, another way to improve is to take the Resilient feat and choose Constitution as your stat. This feat increases the relevant ability by one and grants saving throw proficiency. Clerics, unlike Wizards, don't naturally have proficiency on their constitution saving throws, so this is the perfect choice for them.

This feat can also help you round your Constitution score up to an even number if it's on an odd number. While it's a tough choice between War Caster and Resilient most of the time, Clerics can benefit from both.

Skill Score modifiers only increase for each even number. Try to round all stats to the nearest even number to maximize bonuses.

6 Heavily armored

Impossible to hit

While armor facts in Baldur's Gate 3, and indeed D&D, are usually overlooked, there are certain instances where they can be very useful. Clerics are prime examples of this. A Cleric normally starts the game with only light and medium armor proficiency, which isn't all that bad.

However, Clerics work best when they are nearly impossible to hit as they keep their party healthy. So switching to heavy armor with this feat can be absolutely worth it. Clerics can also wield shields, so once you don full armor or similar, you can easily push your AC over 20. After that, you can just cast spells every turn and watch incoming attacks not hit you i hit

5 Shield Master

Perfect defense for area spells

Speaking of being tanky, Shield Master also goes really well with a defensive Cleric build. This feat adds a +2 bonus to your Dexterity saving throws when wielding a shield. It also allows you to take no damage on a successful Dexterity saving throw or half damage on a failed one.

Since the typical AC of Clerics is so high, a common way they can be hit is with area spells and AoE attacks. Shield Master is the perfect remedy for this, making Cleric even harder to take down. The fact that there are so many amazing shields to use in the game is the icing on the cake.

Assuming you're skilled, use a shield even if you don't. +2AC is well worth it.

4 Mobile

Increased movement speed

Mobile is one of the best cleric feats in Baldur's Gate 3. The increased movement speed allows you to quickly dodge attacks and heal allies on the other side of the battlefield.

Difficult terrain won't slow you down if you hit, so you can maneuver the battle area faster than your enemies. After making an attack, the targeted enemy cannot use Opportunity Attack against you, further benefiting the cleric during combat.

3 Sniper spell

Critical hit radius increased

While playing as an unkillable tank can be extremely fun, Clerics are capable of much more. In fact, they can rival Warlocks or Warlocks with their damaging spells under certain circumstances. So why not double down on your offense and grab the Spell Sniper feat? This feat gives you an extra cantrip, but more importantly increases your critical strike range with spells.

This means you have twice the chance to land a critical hit with your offensive spells, of which you have plenty. Spells like Firebolt, Guide boltand Infects wounds are good enough reasons to pick this feat, and this feat even works with spells you can get from items or other sources, which is awesome.

2 Elementary follower

Ignoring resistors

Elemental Adept is a feat that is more geared towards burst classes; classes like Warlocks or Warlocks whose main job is to deal high damage with spells. However, an attuned Cleric can be just as effective at dealing magic damage and can absolutely take advantage of Elemental Adept.

With this feat, you choose a damage type and ignore any resistances to that damage type that your enemies may have. Your damage with this guy also gains a small boost on top of that. Clerics have some great damaging spells such as Glyph of Warding and Flame Strikein addition to other spells you receive from your subclass.

This feat only allows you to ignore resistances, not immunities.

1 skilled

Ready For Anything

When looking at the best feats, it tends to focus on the most statistical combat advantages. However, a feat can be amazing even if it has no material advantage. Skilled, for example, allows you to gain three more skill skills. This is perfect for a cleric; a wise and devoted warrior who would know many things about the world.

Clerics are Wisdom-based wizards, so High Wisdom is already powerful. Essential skills like Insight, Perception, Survival, and Medicine feed from wisdom to begin with. A cleric should also be skilled in religion, history, and arcane to some extent, knowledge-wise. This feat is perfect for those looking for a way to further immerse themselves in the world.
