How to beat Dark Link in Echoes Of Wisdom

Quick links

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdomlike any game in the beloved series, it has plenty of boss battles to conquer. But unlike Link, Zelda doesn't always have access to a sword in her solo adventure to fend off giant monsters.

When it comes to her first fight against Dark Link in the Stilted Suthorn forest, she has only a few echoes to her name to defend herself. But with the right strategy, it's not too hard to emerge victorious and earn some new powers for your trouble.

As the first major boss fight Zelda faces in Echoes of Wisdom, Dark Link is a bit of a pushover. But if you fail to avoid his mix of basic and spin attacks, he can tear through your limited hearts very quickly.

Do your best Stay on top of Link by jumping on the collection of rocks on either side of the roombecause if he doesn't perform a jump attack, he shouldn't be able to catch you. A litany of pots also surround the edges of the arena, which will give you hearts if you need healing.

Spinning using the “R” button is an effective way to gain some distance between Zelda and Dark Link
because without an Echo summoned for aggro damage, he'll come right after you.

As soon as the fight starts, run straight to the long grass to your left so Link loses sight of you. Then head directly behind him and summon Darknut. They will attack quickly after spawning if placed at the right angle and deal guaranteed damage. Link can clear them right away, so don't be afraid to dash around him and spam the echo summons until you have to retreat.

Other useful echoes in this situation include Sea Urchin, which can create a lethal obstacle course for Link to navigate, and Caromadillo, which is great for drawing his attention and giving Zelda some room to recover.

After taking a certain amount of damage, Link will enter the second phase and take on a dark purple hue. In this form, he is more prone to jumping and spinning attacks, while also having a higher movement speed and higher damage output. The trick now is to defeat him without delay.

Now, hide in the grass again and repeat the previous tactics until Link finally bites the dust. He'll hunt you down if you're alone, so make sure offensive echoes are constantly around to draw aggression out of him and deal damage.

You'll want to avoid summoning them directly in front of Link also because he will deflect most attacks with his shield before killing your echoes.

Once defeated, Link will fall a sword that can then be picked up to learn Zelda's Swordfighter Form. Activate it and go through the sticky wall at the end of the room and continue through the rest of the dungeon.

Next up is Seismic Talus, which is a bit more difficult to conquer.
