Reviews have shown how awesome JRPG Metaphor: ReFantazio is. It should come as no surprise that it takes a lot of talent to make any video game happen. And when it comes to bringing the characters to life, it can't be overstated how strong the voice cast is.

But who gives voice to whom? And what were they in before? This list will go over each of the main characters in Metaphor: ReFantazio and who fills those roles, as well as where you can meet the cast members. Maybe it will be that guy who was in that one thing; read on to find out.

11 Caleb Yen

Protagonist

The person you will inhabit on this journey is the Protagonist, whom you can name. And they are voiced by the talented Caleb Yen. Yen is not new to video games and has been around the block when it comes to anime as well.

10 Alejandra Reynoso

If you're a big fan of the Pokemon anime, more specifically Pokemon Horizons, you might have scratched your back where you've heard Alejandra Reynoso before, as she voices not only the Smoliv evolution line, but also the most important. Liko, one of the main protagonists and faces of the post-Ash Ketchum series. She was also in:

• NieR: Reincarnation (2021)

9 Stewart Clarke

Strohl

Stewart Clarke, in addition to his role as Strohl in Metaphor: ReFantazio, has done voice work in the following games where he brought characters to life:

• Troy: A Total War Saga (2020)
• Horizon Forbidden West (2022)
• Valkyrie Elysium (2022)
• Final Fantasy 16 (2023)

These were and continue to be impressive roles. And, as one of the first connections you make in Metaphor, you'll get used to hearing his voice.

8 Kristin Atherton

Kristin Atherton isn't new to video games, but she might be most recognizable for her Outlander character, Jenny Murray. But when it comes to video games in particular, she has been featured in:

• 63 days (2024)
• Banishers: Ghosts Of New Eden (2024)

In Warhammer 40,000: Battle Sister, she is responsible for the voices of three characters; Ophelia, Leonora and Calidorus.

7 Philippe Spall

Heismay night

Philippe Spall has been featured in quite a number of live-action roles on television and on the silver screen. Some notable ones are the first Downton Abbey movie, Wonder Woman, The Crown and The Witcher TV series. But he's not new to the world of video games either. He has lent his vocal talents to:

6 Emma Ballantine

Emma Ballantine has lent her voice to a number of video games, even lending her voice talents to not one but two games Dragon Quest: Dragon Quest Treasures (2022) and Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince (2023) as Shambles and, respectively, Rose.

5 Emily Burnett

Emily Burnett has only one other video game credit, appearing in Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins as Ayesha. But that doesn't mean she's new to acting at all, as she's appeared on TV several times, including The Dumping Ground and The Outlaws.

4 David Monteith

David Monteith has been a voice actor in several video games, including the famous Baldur's Gate 3, voicing various characters including Harper Karrow and Stonemason Gergerran. Other titles she has given her vocal talents to include:

• Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew (2023)

Monteith also voiced two characters in the video game Age Of Water, Mayor Rudolf Jay and Sergeant Hawkins. And those are just his video game roles. He has also worked in short films, TV and movies, making him quite a versatile actor. If there's a character, Monteith can bring it to life.

3 Gordon Cooper

Gordon Cooper has been involved in some phenomenal video games, including two Game of the Year winners. They are It Takes Two, which received the award in 2021, and Baldur's Gate 3, which won in 2023.

And that's not even the only role he played in the Fire Emblem series. But beyond this single franchise, he has been featured in:

• The Squid Game (2021)

The list could go on forever. His experience spans multiple entertainment formats, disregarding many genres, and it's clear to hear when you listen to him deliver lyrics like More.

1 Joseph Tweedale

Louis Guiabern

Joseph Tweedale has been in shorts and on TV more than video games. The only other video game credit on his resume is as a voice actor in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. Although he and Emily Burnett have crossed paths, albeit not directly, thanks to Torchwood: Monthly Range, a podcast series. It has been in:

• Victims (2021)
• DarkGame (2024)

But a smaller resume of games doesn't mean they're any less of a power; it just means they're getting started, and there are far worse projects than Metaphor: ReFantazio, especially since they're part of the main cast of characters.
