The Pokémon The series' major leaks have produced an almost endless amount of development information for past and future games, detailing unreleased Pokemon, upcoming releases, prototypes, and scrapped character bios. Related to the latter category, one story about Typhlosion particularly blew up – its content similar to the gruesome ones about Hypno or Drifloon. Game Freak apologized for the oversight and said it would contact affected employees where it could.

All of the scrapped Pokemon were revealed via Game Freak's Teraleak
In addition to the upcoming Pokemon and the prototype being leaked, a good number of scrapped Pokemon have also been discovered. These unused Pokemon were collected by u/vagrantwade on the r/PokeLeaks Beta Leaks Megathread. The “Gen 3 Prototypes” spreadsheet document (originally compiled by The Cutting Room Floor) can be found in this post, showing all the Lost Pokemon that have been unearthed. Most fall into two broad categories: orange (those likely to have been scrapped before February 2002) and pink (those likely to have been scrapped after March 2002). The exact dates are extremely fuzzy, so these benchmarks should not be taken as gospel.

Orange is definitely the biggest category of unreleased Pokemon found in leaks. Many of these creatures have names that haven't undergone the changes that most Pokemon receive, mainly because each name doesn't deviate from the Japanese original. An example of this in these leaks is the Pokemon Wailmer, shown here to have once been called “Hoeruko”.
As with other Pokemon leaks, the small details flew just as easily as the big ones. Many Pokemon listed include development notes, many of which are evidence as to why these Pokemon were left behind. The bug-like bii purportedly replaced by Wingull has the note “I'd change the colors” – which lines up with the move to Wingull, another flying Pokemon but with a different color scheme. Some Pokemon, such as Sudowoodo and Keromeelo, were deemed too similar to other Pokemon, while others received warmer remarks such as Rikugin's “I like the idea, but…”.
Monorabi, a Pokemon that looks like Eevee is a fire type, received one of the least flattering criticisms, a simple note saying it “looks deformed.” Like other Orange category Pokemon, all of which claim to be scrapped before February 2002, Monorabi has very little detail in its biography, while some Pink category Pokemon have small stories attached.

Warabitto, the Scrapped Starter Pokemon
Starter Pokemon are among the most iconic of their generations, but some are left behind. One example featured in the document is Pokemon Warabitto, a salvo-carrying rabbit-like creature that was once intended to be a Gen 3 starter.
Based on the concept art that originally depicts Warabitto, fans have been able to piece together that the rabbit was once originally a water type. This means that Warabitto has been replaced by the beloved Pokemon Mudkip, although it seems that many fans wouldn't mind Warabitto making a comeback, with the watery rabbit quickly getting its fair share of fanart.

Pink creatures have made it further than other Pokemon in the leak, but are unlikely to see the light of day. However, the fact that these Pokemon have come a little further than Orange's means that they have more stories to their name. Archeon, for example, has a number of “Undecided” notes about its features, namely that “scales formed in the wings” and that it “has not changed its appearance since the age of dinosaurs”. In fact, other notes in his spreadsheet section call it a “living fossil,” with scales strong enough to cut through iron.
Uulon is another Pokemon with a thorough lore, with numerous descriptions of its nomadic nature. Puruun is similar, with a good amount of detail surrounding his diet and love of flying. Evolotto is an odd case in this regard, as much of the news surrounding this canceled Pokemon revolves around its ability to evolve into any Pokemon – a trait almost similar to Ditto's basic ability. However, the “Unconfirmed” notes section suggests that it evolves by “transforming” and into “different” different Pokémon, which further confuses the true nature of its concept.
However, as with other parts of these Pokemon leaks, some scrapped Pokemon in the Pink category have critics attached to them. Some of these are, again, criticisms of Pokemon being too similar to their peers, such as Otoma's note “I want them to be less like Poliwag”. More humorous is Kodomon, which is tagged with the note “Looks like Dragon Quest”, which could refer to the smiley face and big eyes, which are indeed similar to Dragon Quest's famous slimes.
