Shine, shine, shine. Merry Christmas.
The game has been so well received, retaining a large portion of its player base, that players are calling for the return of lobbies that match you with the same player all night long.
Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 longs for old-school lobbies
Over on the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 subreddit, players reminisced about old CoD lobbies. No, not the ones where there was horrible racist and homophobic abuse, but the ones where you'd be paired with the same opposition match after match, forming 'friendships and rivalries'.
Skill-based matchmaking put an end to that dream, and a thread on Reddit garnered over 6,000 upvotes and nearly 500 comments, with players lamenting the good old days.
Forward_Geologist_67 was one of the first to comment, saying: “Everyone talks about the old CoD lobbies like war stories where you just got harassed and called insults all day but connecting with people us and have as much fun there. people made long-lasting friendships just by playing Call of Duty and talking into a microphone.”
In the thread, Viciouspit also shared a story about Black Ops 6 that gave them an idea of how good things could be: “Man we got matched against the same people three times in a row tonight on SND. The first time we won 6 -4, the second they won 6-5 (they went up 4-0 to start The third time when they saw it was us again, I was looking forward to a best of 3. But a did it). make me think of the old days when you used to play in the same band until someone decided to quit.”
Lots of people have made long lasting friendships just by playing Call of Duty and talking into a microphone.
While many were quick to share their disappointment at the lack of these lobbies, some players were happy to just share wholesome stories from their past.
Theweekendwife said: “During Clan Wars in Black Ops 2, my husband and I met and played with two guys from Canada. We added them and played with them for almost two years. In 2016, I drove to Canada and met them. Since then, we have flown and met 5 times and have had a long distance friendship ever since.”
There have been plenty of stories of players talking about long-lasting friendships, but Defiant_Activity_864's was a little different. “When I was younger, I was afraid that the CERN Hadron Collider would make a black hole. So I got on CoD 4 just to chat with people and distract myself. A lot of adults have told me that the black hole thing is not going to, you can't do that anymore,” they said.
you are right; you can't do this anymore. Activision, please make it happen.
Forced to go rogue. Hunted from within. This is Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Black Ops 6 is an action espionage thriller set in the early 1990s, a time of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower. With a compelling narrative and unbound by rules of engagement, this is signature Black Ops.
The Black Ops 6 campaign offers dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay that features a variety of game spaces, with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger espionage.
In a premium multiplayer experience, players will test their skills on 16 new maps at launch, including 12 base 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6.
Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of Round-Based Zombies, the fan-favorite mode where players will defeat hordes of undead across two brand new maps at launch. After launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and innovative experiences in both Multiplayer and Zombies.
