After being out for a few weeks and with Season 1 now here, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's meta is starting to settle. Some weapons rose to the top, some were nerfed, and some remained in the ground.

One part of the meta of Activision's latest game that is becoming particularly annoying for players, however, is the importance of smoke grenades.
“I'm bad at killing, so I blow smoke to make everyone else as bad as me”
It is a common problem in Black Ops 6 for a map to be flooded with smoke grenades, visibly obstructing visibility. This is often the case when players use a thermal scope or melee weapon to seek kills. It's a major frustration for players, so much so that a recent Reddit thread garnered nearly 1,000 upvotes and 350 comments.
Thread creator sweatyom posted it with the message: “I don't know what the answer is or how to fix it, but every match flooded with smoke grenades all over the map is getting really old.”
Smoke grenades have been called a “coward's method” and a “newbie movie”, with one player saying that “smokes are to help them individually, not to help the team”.
The appeased user comically pointed out how big of a problem it can be, adding: “Pro tip: Combine tactical smokes with a smoke tube grenade gun for a total of five smoke grenades per life in about eight seconds from appearance”.
Every match that is flooded with smoke grenades all over the map gets really old.
The original post had a few detractors though – mainly those using smoke grenades.

It's clearly a divisive issue, but one of the biggest facing the Black Ops 6 community right now, and it'll be interesting to see how, if at all, Activision handles it.
