Everything is fixed mentioned in the latest update
- Free update for Control which unlocks previously released content
- Control The Ultimate Edition launches on Mac on February 12, 2025
- Alan Wake 2 has now sold over 1.8 million copies
- Control 2 it will be an action RPG
The free update and planned Mac release are exciting enough, but one of the more fascinating pieces of news that Remedy accidentally dropped is that Control 2 it will be an action RPG. With Remedy ranking first Control game as a third-person action-adventure title, it involves a massive genre departure for the sequel. The growing Remedy universe has embraced experimenting with other genres, but this is a surprising update for the highly anticipated sequel. Also, while this update makes a lot of interesting points, it ultimately raises even more questions.

Remedy is incredibly secretive about what this “previously released content” might be. It makes us wonder why there is so much secrecy surrounding already released content. Of course, this could just be a way to drum up excitement for a free update, but hopefully it means some fun easter eggs or hints about Control 2 are hidden inside. With news about Alan Wake 2cut content, maybe that's free Control the update will also surprise with reduced content, but this is just a mere speculation.
A Control 2 announcement is hopefully on the horizon
Anticipating the reveal of a long-awaited follow-up
Nominated for the 2019 Game of the Year award, Control surprised and compelled many with its quirky and action-packed story. Now that this has been confirmed Control 2 will be more of an action RPG than a third-person shooter, it will be fascinating to see how Remedy defines that switch. Although no official, revealing announcement has been scheduled yet Control 2 in tandem with the free upgrade would make sense.
It looks like an announcement could arrive any day, though. So far, there haven't been any leaks or rumors to suggest that Remedy will reveal the sequel at this year's upcoming Game Awards, but that's always a possibility for big announcements. If not so the developer chooses to present a first look at Control 2then its early 2025 plans could be planting the seeds for a blossoming announcement.

Even if Control 2 not announced in 2025, Remedy is already poised to have a big year. Next year FBC: Firebreak is the developer's first self-published multiplayer title. Since Remedy likes to experiment with genres, it will be interesting to see how a multiplayer game gets wet in the news Control is addressed. Like waiting for Control 2 continues, this planned free update hopefully signals that more news is on the way.
