Jiji's family lives in a rental house near a volcano
Let's recap the events leading up to of Dandadan horror tribute. The seed of this evil resides in the town where Jiji and his family moved after he finished elementary school. Jiji's father, an experienced volcano scientist, moved with his family to live closer to a volcano that had been dormant for over 200 years. As “Let's Go to the Cursed House” demonstrates, this mountain village is relatively quiet, with the occasional townie here and there.
However, Jiji's new rental house quickly changed from pleasant to menacing once he witnessed bizarre paranormal phenomena. His parents met Jiji's alarm with skepticism, dismissing the placement as a case of an overactive imagination. However, as time passed, both of Jiji's parents fell ill. Jiji, Okarun and Momo return to the mountain village to investigate the root of the paranormal activity that has sickened Jiji's parents.
A disturbing scene echoes a famous Ari Aster film
As Jiji, Okarun, and Momo climb miles of stairs, villagers can be seen outside the town. However, something about these villagers feels off. They all embrace a robust physique, pale skin and bright eyes. Viewers are treated to a horrifying sight when the trio finally arrive at Jiji's residence. Unbeknownst to Okarun, who almost catches a glimpse of the activity, a crowd of villagers are spying on Jiji's house from a nearby forest.
If the image of dark figures lurking in a dark forest seems familiar, it mirrors a memorable image from Ari Aster's thriller, Hereditary. This horror/family drama centers on the Graham family, whose late matriarch Ellen Taper Leigh (Kathleen Chalfett) led a demonic cult. After Ellen's death, the cult preys on other members of the Graham family. The film's final act features a jarring exterior shot of the Graham family home at night, surrounded by nude cultists.
But what is the purpose of worship? Hereditary? In short, they want to use Peter Graham (the family's teenage son, played by Alex Wolff) as a vessel for a powerful demon named Paimon. They succeed in their efforts, and Paimon's soul enters Peter's body along with the soul of the Graham family's recently departed daughter, Charlie Graham (Millie Shapiro).

Is This Movie Reference Foreshadowing Season 2?
Demonic cults manipulating victims without their knowledge is a common horror trope. Could connect that Dandadan scene with other films such as Rosemary's baby or prediction. But does this mean demonic cults will play a significant role in? Dandadan season 2?
There aren't many clues available in Let's Go to the Cursed House. However, in the final scene of the episode, Jiji and Okarun discover a hidden room in Jiji's rental house filled with talismans. In Season 1, Episode 2, “That's a Space Alien, Ain't It?!”, Momo describes talismans as barriers that ward off evil spirits. Perhaps this hidden room is a vault of sorts, collecting and neutralizing any available barriers keeping Yokai and aliens away from Jiji's village.
The bizarre identities of the villagers are more difficult to establish. Whoever they are, they don't seem like ordinary people. Could they be aliens? Or maybe they are yokai born from the victims of the last eruption of the dormant volcano. Dandadan fans have to read the manga or wait for the season 2 premiere for more answers.
