One of the things that drives Marvel And if…? series is that literally anything can happen. Captain Britain, Black Panther as a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, zombies taking over the Marvel universe all happened as part of And if…? the plots of the series. Now something completely new could be coming for Season 3.

The third season of And if…? it also happens to be the last one. When Jeffrey Wright, the voice of the Watcher, takes audiences on new adventures for Season 3, it will be the final go-round for the Disney+ animated series. Looks like the writers are going to pull out all the stops for this series finale.

What if…? Season 3?

Fans already know that Season 3 will feature storylines like a journey with the Winter Soldier and Red Guardian and a mecha battle with a new Avengers team. However, a little more light has been shed on what viewers can expect to see next season after And if…?And X-Men '97 writer Matt Chauncey shared some details at the 2024 Lightbox Expo, including that there's a “sparkling musical from the 1930s.”

Chauncey did not explain which characters are involved in the musical episode or what the setting will be. However, this particular type of episode is not a totally original idea. In fact, established shows tend to like to branch out and try these musical episodes as a way to branch out from their normal offerings. That this animated series follows the same path that looks like Scrubs, Buffy, Psychologist, Fringe and any others is definitely an interesting idea. Especially if this musical episode could be planned as part of the actual series finale. It would seem that literally playing the show all the way through might be a nice touch.

Chauncey didn't stop with the announcement of a musical episode either. He also dropped a few other teases about what viewers can expect in this final season. He also let slip that at least one of the episodes will feature a character who was created exclusively for the show and hasn't even been seen in the comics before. It's also expected that a character who existed before but didn't appear in either Season 1 or Season 2 will finally make it to Season 3. Although it's unclear who he was referring to, it was previously leaked that Moon Knight will make his first appearance. It is unknown if this was the character Chauncey was referring to during his introduction.

while And if…? It's getting ready to ride off into the sunset as a TV show, branching out into other platforms as well. This includes an exclusive Apple Vision Pro VR experience that allows users to truly step into the animated world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where anything is possible. Fans won't have to wait long to see this musical episode as And if…? Season 3 is expected to land on Disney+ sometime in 2025.
