Devil May Cry and Castlevania Anime Showrunner has acquired Duke Nukem's rights

If you think Duke Nukem as a franchise is dead and gone, then think -again. The Duke will return, not as you think that Adi Shankar, who helped bring the life of Castlevania and more recently Devil May Cry, has acquired the rights to the franchise.

Devil May Cry 5 did not grow old a day

Because of Netflix's TV show, Devil May Cry experienced a sudden peak in popularity. We returned to DMC 5 to see if the time test has passed.

In an interview with Esquire, Shankar revealed that, although he was approached with several IPs, he recently acquired the rights to the Duke Nukem from Gearbox, not just the rights of play.

When asked what his vision looks like for an adaptation of Duke Nukem, Shankar said that:

It's a middle finger for everyone. When Duke Nukem exploded, a lot of people sat around trying to turn it into a brand, when it's just a middle finger. Duke Nukem cannot be made by a corporation, because when a corporation makes Duke Nukem, it is no longer Duke Nukem. I do not intend to have anyone to tell me what to do on it.

At this moment, it is not clear when a potential adaptation of the shooter will be launched, because Shankar has his hands in several projects, but one thing is clear: he understands what makes Duke Nukem, well, Duke Nukem.

Shankar quickly became the person to adapt video games

Beyond his work on Devil May Cry, who was recently environmentally friendly for a 2 season, Shankar has several other projects in works, all turning around video games.

In 2017, it was revealed that Shankar will cover an anime centered around the Assassin's Creed franchise. It is not clear if this project is still in progress, but the article refers to it. Otherwise, Hyper Light Drifter has also been announced that it has an adaptation with Shankar to the cloth. If this was not enough, in 2021, PUBg proved to have received an adaptation, also from Shankar.

Which means Shankar is quite busy and has his hands in many projects. With Duke Nukem still on the list, it is not said literally what follows.
