Before The Game Awards 2024 kicked off last night, reliable insiders told us there were going to be some “holy s**t” moments. As it turns out, there were so many of them that it was hard to tell which ones were meant to be the big surprises. The Witcher 4, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Okami 2, Onimusha… the list is almost endless.

Perhaps the biggest and most popular surprise of all, however, was the reveal of Elden Ring Nightreign, a three-player spin-off that allows players to team up and defeat some of the series' biggest problems together. Considering that FromSoft recently said that they aren't working on anything related to Elden Ring right now, it was quite a shock, especially with the 2025 release date.
Lucky players can play Elden Ring Nightreign in two months
It's already surprising enough that a new rendition of the Elden Ring will be ready for release at some point in the next 12 months, but it turns out that it appears to be in near-playable condition. Earlier, Bandai Namco revealed that players will soon be able to register to gain access to Network Tests for Nightreign, which will basically act as a closed beta.
According to Bandai Namco UK's Twitter account and the official website for Elden Ring Nightreign, registrations for the game's network test will open on January 10th, a few weeks from now. Tests will then begin and allow a select number of lucky players to gain early access to the game sometime in February.
The network test is a preliminary verification test where selected testers play a part of the game before the full release of the game. Various technical checks of online systems will be examined by performing large-scale network load tests.
As of now, we don't really know anything about what the network test will entail, but it's a sign that the game is already on. Anyone interested can sign up on the game's official website on January 10th and hopefully find themselves playing Nightreign in February.
