Baldur's Gate 3: 9 biggest differences when playing as Wyll

If you play as Wyll in Baldur's Gate 3, expect to see these changes in your gameplay.

Wyll, Blade of Frontiers is a perfect example. Initially tasked with slaying a certain 'demon', the young Ravengard's very existence may be changed forever. Whenever you choose to bring him as a loyal companion, the results for the Warlock, our favorite shoes, are numerous. Giving off that horny look is just the beginning.

Lost In The Grove

Wyll calls you a traitor in Emerald Grove in Baldur's Gate 3.

Since he has no interest in bloodshed, Wyll leaves your party if you choose to attack Emerald Grove with Minthara. He'll usually try to warn the Grove, but stay with the party if you convince him that this is a trap for Goblins.

If you still choose to betray the Tieflings with him in your party, Wyll becomes hostile and you are forced to kill him. If he is in your camp during the attack, he will leave during the goblin's celebration party.

Similarly, if you never recruited Wyll, his corpse will be found after the battle if you side with the Goblins.. If you side with the Tieflings but never recruit him, he simply won't appear in the following acts once you head into Act 2.

An early visit to hell

Mizora talks about Wyll's contract in Baldur's Gate 3.

During Act 2, Mizora enlists the player's help in rescuing one of Zariel's servants (the ruler of Avernus) from the hands of the Absolute. The servant is none other than Mizora herselftrapped inside an Illithid pod. You'll meet her once you reach Mindflayer's Colony below Moonrise Towers.

If you decide to abandon Mizora or kill her, Wyll is immediately sent to Avernus for all eternity as a Lemure.a blobby monster destined to be tortured day in and day out. This is due to the violation of one of the clauses of his pact by neglecting his duty. This is even though Wyll wasn't the one who condemned his patron, so I wouldn't ignore it if you care even a little bit about him.

Duke of RavengardWyll talks about his political life during the Baldur's Gate 3 epilogue

After completing Wyll's (Border Blade) character quest by defeating the dragon Ansur in Act 3, Wyll has the choice to follow in his father's footsteps and become the next Duke of Baldur's Gate.

You can encourage him to put down his blade and pursue a political life, and he'll take over as soon as you deal with Netherbrain. Saving his father is not necessary to reach this conclusion.

You'll have a chance to meet the newest Duke during Withers' epilogue party. Wyll's personal struggles and triumphs depend on the choices you make during the game. He will comment on how his horns can be a nuisance if he becomes a demon, for example.

He aims to rule alongside three other dukes, which will include Florrick and his father Ulder Ravengard, if they are still alive. He is still looking for another leader and invites the player to take on this role if you loved him.

If his pact with Mizora is broken, she will be nowhere to be found, and Wyll mentions that he has learned some new tricks. If he is still her servant, she stays by his side all the time in a human disguise, much to her amusement and his chagrin. Regardless of the situation, Wyll wants to rebuild the city and create as many alliances as possible.

Blade Avernus rose

Wyll declares himself to his father Lama Avernus in Baldur's Gate 3.

If Wyll becomes a demon and you complete his quest, but don't encourage him to become a Duke and say he's a hero, he will take a new title as the Blade of Avernus. After embracing his new nature, he begins hunting demons and fiends directly in Avernus. He would be called to Withers' party six months later.

You can join him on this new path if you love himand you will both be called to the epilogue later. During the epilogue, he will enthusiastically share stories about his signs. If you went to hell together, he will remember how you both defeated them.

Similar to other endings, there are some differences depending on how you ran your adventures. He mentions that his father is proud of him if he's alive, and that Mizora is surprisingly cool with his new goal, leaving him free to go after any enemies of Avernus, should they still be bound by contract.

If their pact is broken, however, he mentions that she is his next target and that he is currently looking for a way to locate her and defeat her once and for all. He is now a Ranger as he has lost his wizard powers.

This ending also has a different branch. After defeating Netherbrain, if Wyll became the Blade of Avernus and you completed Karlach's quest, he will offer to return to Avernus with her, vowing to protect her from Zariel.

She will agree, and together they both search for a definitive solution to Karlach's heart in Avernus.. He will talk about their adventures together during the epilogue, and they both grew very close during the six months. Of course, you can join them if you want. Probably the best possible ending for Karlach and a great one for Wyll as well.

The Adventures of the Frontier Blade

Wyll cheerfully points his blade at the chamber in Baldur's Gate 3.

Wyll retains his original title if you manage to complete his personal quest without turning him into a demon and choose not to be Dukeor if you don't complete his quest at all.

Not completing the quest works for both human and demon Wyll. This is the only way to give you this ending as a demon.

This ending is quite similar to the Blade of Avernus route, with the most notable difference being the monsters he killed (creatures like dragons and giants instead of demons). Of course, the duo Karlach's ending can't happen as he has no reason to head to Avernus.

His relationship with his father and Mizora is roughly the same, with small details being changed to explain his situation. Wyll remains basically the same as when you first met himso while this isn't a bad ending per se, it isn't the best of them either. At least he will stay alive and happy.
