One of the biggest reveals at The Game Awards 2024, and one that host Geoff Keighley saved for the final announcement of the show, was Naughty Dog's next game, Intergalactic: The Heretical Prophet. Aside from its space setting and retro-futuristic aesthetic, it was almost immediately apparent that Intergalactic was a Naughty Dog game because of the studio's unmistakable flair for characters, writing and polish. One area that remains a mystery is Intergalacticits gameplay, but the bits of story revealed in the debut trailer tease the main character as a bounty hunter of sorts, one who owns an incredibly cool suite of real-world “NASA-punk” gadgets.
From the opening footage of the trailer to the reveal of the game being the next original IP from Naughty Dog, IntergalacticHis debut was practically full of references to real-world brands and technology. The game's protagonist, Jordan, pilots a ship with an obvious Porsche logo front and center, wears adidas high-tops and uses Sony stereo equipment in a subtle tip of the hat to Naughty Dog's parent company. Intergalacticstrategic use of licensed music, real-world branding and a talented cast position it as equal parts Naughty Dog and guardians of the galaxy, along with a retro-futuristic aesthetic that grounds it similar to that of Ridley Scott Foreign or Bethesda's Starfield.

Naughty Dog unveils new game at The Game Awards 2024
After a long period of rumours, Naughty Dog officially announces its next game, a brand new sci-fi IP, as the closest show to The Game Awards 2024.
Every real-world reference from Intergalactic: The Revelation of the Heretic Prophet Trailer
Taking cues from the iconic 1982 sci-fi classic Blade Runner, Intergalactic presents a vision of the future with hints of cyberpunk alongside an obvious prevalence of corporate branding. It's a common motif in the genre driven by the consumerism and rapid technological advancement of the 1980s, which has been a cornerstone of cyberpunk fiction for nearly as long as the term has existed (courtesy of authors like Bruce Bethke and William Gibson). Appropriately, Intergalactic is apparently loaded with plenty of real-world brand references, complete with the game's protagonist apparently being a collector of pop-cultural artifacts from the 1980s.
The Porsche ship
The first and most obvious real-world reference in Intergalactic comes from the trailer's opening shot, in which the camera slowly pans out to reveal a spaceship branded with German automaker Porsche. A well-known and respected purveyor of luxury sports cars, Porsche automobiles (in particular, the 911 Turbo) are an important part of 1980s iconography thanks to their appearance in films, television and music videos. Jordan's spaceship is a not-so-subtle nod to the brand's importance in the decade the protagonist seems to love it.
Adidas shoes by Jordan
A quick shot of Jordan pulling the spaceship reveals that he's wearing Adidas sneakers, which, while not a 1:1 replica of a real-world shoe, are absolutely one of the most iconic and popular brands of the decade. Intergalactic regular references, the 1980s. Adidas has collaborated with properties that feature its shoes before to release real-world designs (such as the iconic Star-Lord hi-tops from Guardians of the Galaxy video game), so there's a chance he'll do the same with Jordan's very cool sneakers.
A Sony CD Player on board
Right before the trailer sped up and dropped this bomb Intergalactic is Naughty Dog's next game, Jordan punches in some numbers and selects a CD from a jukebox-like spinning spindle on his spaceship stereo, complete with Sony branding. given that Intergalactic it's a Sony game from the first party and probably exclusive to the PlayStation 5, it's a bit of an on-the-nose branding to say the game is a Sony exclusive.
An iconic song for the guys from Pet Shop
Before intergalactic The trailer's licensed music begins, the camera zooms in on the CD Jordan selected to record her trip to the planet Sempiria to reveal it's the 1987 album by the famous synth-pop duo Pet Shop Boys. Actually. Viewers are then treated to the rest of the trailer being accompanied by that album's hit track, “It's a Sin”, which may have something to do with the fact that the game's subtitle is The heretical prophet. Along with the original score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for Intergalacticthe game may also include other licensed tracks.
