Fortnite is getting into the festive spirit as we approach the holidays, which means it's time for candy canes, gingerbread houses, and lots of irritating Christmas carols everywhere you turn. The holidays aren't complete until you've heard All I Want For Christmas to your heart's content, and now Fortnite is trying to increase your listening tenfold.
Earlier this week, a giant block of ice was added to Fortnite, which confused quite a few people. That is until we heard rumblings that Mariah Carey would be added at some point and the infamous video of Mariah unfrozen for the holidays immediately came to mind. It was pretty clear what was going to happen next.
Fortnite has added Mariah Carey as a Christmas NPC
The moment the ice block shattered was captured by Fortnite insider HYPEX, who is also wearing one of those atrocious Skibidi toilet backgrounds. Fortnite really is a video game, right?
In the video shared by HYPEX, we can see the block of ice begin to glow, followed by Mariah Carey screaming “It's time” in reference to her viral TikTok video. The block then shatters to reveal a Christmas themed scene with none other than Mariah Carey dancing while All I Want For Christmas plays in the background.
On top of Mariah's entry, a few Mariah-related items have also been dropped into the Fortnite store, including some Mariah skins. One is her outfit that she wears on stage while another is a gold dress. There's also an “All I Want For Christmas” emote up for grabs too. Fortnite is now officially a game where you can get shot by Mariah Carey, and if that's not a Christmas miracle, I don't know what is.
Starting out as a tower defense game, Fortnite has become one of the biggest video games out there. Its battle royale mode dominates popular culture, featuring concerts by megastar musicians and crossovers with just about every brand imaginable, from Marvel to the NFL.
