Helldivers 2 it's entered a big time of change and it's paying off in some big ways. The Illuminate faction, long teased by leakers, has finally arrived to threaten Super Earth and comes with a new type of urban terrain for players to navigate. Perhaps most interesting is the new tool players can use to explore that terrain: the Fast Recon Vehicle, or FRV. A car has been at the top of players' wish lists for months, so it's a relief to finally get a proper mode of transportation. Helldivers may get killed from time to time, but it's well worth it in the name of managed democracy.
FRV especially seems like a long time coming considering players have had Exosuite for a few months now. Exosuits certainly pack a punch, but they aren't fast or nimble enough to really serve as transport, further proving the need for a proper vehicle in Helldivers 2. Now that the Fast Recon Vehicle is here, it also has an opportunity to outperform Exosuits in a second way. Exosuits still only come in a few very limited forms, but the FRV could easily give up on variants.

The Illuminate are back in Helldivers 2, and the use of force fields by the faction's units shows that the threat must be taken seriously.
Helldivers 2's FRV needs variety to stay fresh
There is no doubt that Exosuits in Helldivers 2 they are strong. Heavily armored and steadfast in battle, both are capable of crushing the enemy; THE Exo-49 Emancipator Exosuit
autocannons can pierce armor, while the minigun on Exo-45 Patriot Exosuit
it is suitable for cutting hordes. However, since they were added, Helldivers 2 didn't add more Exosuit types, despite the wide potential for variants. Anything from a flamethrower suit to a suit with dual machine guns could provide some useful options, but they're yet to manifest.
The new Fast Recon Vehicle is in a similar situation for now; there is only one guy, armed with a heavy machine gun. Just like how Helldivers 2 sentries reproduce all kinds of powerful support weapons, Arrowhead Game Studios could add all kinds of mounted FRVs with different equipment. Anything from an automatic cannon to a ARC-3 Archer
on a rocket launcher could prove invaluable when paired with the mobility of a car. Arrowhead could even add an FRV with an empty turret slot where players can lock their support weapons, giving them a more stable way to fire their heavy gear.
Aside from variations on the FRV's machine gun turret, Arrowhead could also add a range of different car types without straying too far from the original design. Perhaps the simplest option would be a more heavily armored car, which is slightly slower than the original FRV, but offers more protection against fire. Between the Illuminate's voteless hordes and the many smaller Terminid units, players could also get some use out of an FRV with a spiked plow in the front to better carve their way through the crowds — though it would be self-evident if they should do so. trade in some rear armor instead.
It's hard to say if Helldivers 2 they'll be getting more vehicles soon, but there's no doubt that Arrowhead opened the door for them. Even if it doesn't push the limits of vehicles by adding something like a tank or helicopter, it can use the FRV as a base and add a few variants over time. FRV is great as it is, but there are a lot of situations and missions Helldivers 2 where some other kind of turret would be more useful than a machine gun. We hope that the developer pays this long-awaited new Helldivers ruse by adding more battle options for fans to plan.
