Gege Akutami, the author Jujutsu Kaisenrecently ended his story with a chapter that divided opinion among fans. While a lot of fans came to accept the ending as it was, many others were not happy because there were too many loose ends in the story. Of course, fans realize that a lot of loose ends in Jujutsu Kaisen it follows from the fact that the author was suffering from multiple health problems. Some things he wanted to flesh out in the story were rushed because there just wasn't enough time and he wanted to finish his manga as soon as possible so he could get the proper rest he needed.

From the manipulation of the last arc of the series it is clear that JJK it was kind of rushed, but while it's sad, at the same time, fans also need to understand that the author's health comes first. Recently, Gege revealed quite a few interesting details with the release of volume 27 of the series, and in it, he also went on to describe the differences between Sukuna and Yorozu's reincarnation process.

How Sukuna returned to his original form

  • Sukuna defeated Gojo
  • Sukuna reincarnated to fight the students

Sukuna reverted to his original form after his fight with Gojo Satoru. Fans know that Gojo and Sukuna engaged in a rather intense battle at the start of Shinjuku Showdown. It's safe to say that their battle was the best the series had to offer, and it was also the fight that went down in history as one of the most anticipated, not just in JKK, but in all of manga on the whole. Sukuna versus Gojo lived up to the hype and was a fight that saw both take the upper hand in the fight at various points. Of course, due to Sukuna having a major advantage of the 10 Shadow Technique, Gojo was the weakest here and ultimately ended up losing the battle.

And Gojo lost his life in the process, and with that, the King of Curses remained resilient on the battlefield. Of course, that doesn't mean Sukuna handled Gojo easily. Gojo had done enough damage to Sukuna that he was at the end of his rope. In fact, Sukuna couldn't even defeat Kashimo in his current state. When Sukuna met Kashimo right after Gojo, it was clear for everyone to see that he was overwhelmed, which is why he needed to take the next step, which he had prepared before, and this step was the full incarnation process. Using this power, Sukuna took his true form and this helped him greatly, restoring his body and easing the burdens that the fight against Gojo had put on him. Of course, Sukuna was still far from fresh, mostly because the power of Gojo's Limitless Void had taken over his domain and his reverse cursed technique was incredibly slow, but he was still able to heal from all the damage he took picked up and ready to go again.

The difference between the incarnations of Sukuna and Yorozu

Sukuna paused her transformation to resume later

Fans might have wondered how Sukuna's reincarnation process differs from that of Yorozu, who fans saw Tsumiki's body incarnate in the Slaughter Game. This was a pretty shocking decision by the author, but it was also one that fans see as essential to moving the story forward. Gege originally wanted to address this issue in his manga, but due to his health issues, he was unable to do so.

He then went on to explain this in the excerpts of volume 27 and basically according to him the difference in their incarnation processes is that Sukuna resumed her incarnation after suspending it while Yoruzu stopped it completely hers and abandoned it. Here's what the author had to say about it:

The method of restoring the body by resuming the transformation caused by Sukuna's incarnation was essential to start the second round with the High Jujutsu members. But then the question came up, “What about Yorozu?”

The answer is: “Yorozu did not suspend the transformation from incarnation, but rather refused and ended it.” This also shows the difference in skill level, which is cool, right?! I was very excited to include this in the extras in volume 27!! But during the production period for volume 27, I was hit with some strange symptoms, went through various twists and turns, and ended up having my appendix removed (more precisely, it was the vermiform appendix) – my first surgery and hospitalization in my life. And so I missed my chance to say it.”

Sukuna's power in its fully reincarnated form

Sukuna continued to fight Jujutsu wizards due to his incarnate body with Megumi Fushiguro at its core. Without this suspended transformation, Sukuna would not have been able to take on the Wizards as Gojo had done enough damage to him to ensure he was crippled forever. Fortunately for him, he had prepared this transformation, which he resumed after the fight against Gojo was over. He then went on to fight the Jujutsu wizards and it was incredibly exciting for the fans to see. Not only did Sukuna unleash his full power in this battle, but he also showed what he was truly capable of and why he was known as the King of Curses.

He faced one Wizard after another and despite taking a heavy beating where even his heart was stabbed, he continued to fight. Sukuna has even shown how incredible a user of range extension, reverse cursed technique, and almost every Jujutsu sorcery he is. Indeed, he was worthy of the title of King of Curses, and there would truly never be another wizard as skilled as him, with Gojo Satoru being the only one at his level. In the end, despite all his efforts, Sukuna ended up losing and that's why he finally understood what love means and why he finally had a change of heart and understood that in another life, he would have wanted to take a different path, one where he was loved and not forced to be a survivor.

Yorozu in Jujutsu Kaisen

It's incredibly exciting to see the author share these interesting tidbits from the story, especially since his health issues prevented him from adding things to the main chapters that he would have liked for more context. With volumes of releases still to come, fans know for sure that they will be treated to plenty of exciting content.

The final chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen, JJK 271, was finally released on September 29, 2024. Fans can read the series on the Manga Plus and Shonen Jump apps.
