As the last of the main series main weapons to appear Monster Hunter NowThe Heavy Bowgun has the potential to be one of the best in its class. However, to get the most out of it, you'll need to invest heavily in upgrades, and if you want the highest level Heavy Bowgun build, you'll need to kill a lot of high level monsters.
All heavy guns inside Monster Hunter Now have a wide variety of ammo combinations that will either be effective against certain monsters or have their own unique properties
Best Monster Hunter Now Build Heavy Bowgun
Of all the Heavy Bowgun variants available in Monster Hunter Now, the cream of the crop is the Griffon Blazookathanks to its dedicated Pierce ammunition. Its only real downside is that you'll have to wait until the events when the Black Diablos materials become available. However, if you have enough parts to fully upgrade this weapon, you'll have an incredibly powerful ranged option for destroying body parts, briefly stunning the enemy while your allies take it down.
Of course, with the best heavy bow on hand, you'll need a wide variety of augments to maximize its effectiveness. Your main focus should be you gain the Reload Speed perk at max rankas it will help a lot with Black Diablos main drawback. You will also want to get several degrees of Partbreaker as Pierce ammo travels through your enemy, meaning more chances for this perk to trigger. Artful Dodger can be handy if you find dodging a bit difficult and it's worth trying perfect dodge to increase the power of your currently charged shots.

The best Driftsmelt Slots for heavy bow building
With our Heavy Bowgun build, there are a total of five Driftsmelt Slots available. While you have to wait until you reach rank 8 to get the last one, the other four are available as soon as each piece of armor reaches rank 5, which shouldn't take long at all. Forging Driftstones requires a bit of luck ca it's random what you get when you boil the stonesbut here are our recommendations to aim for, from rarest to most common.
- Wind resistant – Reduces or cancels the effects of wind pressure. It increases to a maximum that cancels both minor and strong wind pressure. (Crimson only)
- Resistance to tremors – Cancels weak tremors. Rank 2 also reduces the effects of Strong Trembling, while Rank 3 negates them (Azure only)
- Concentration – Increases the fill rate of the special gauge. Adds 5% or 10% per rank for a 30% increased fill rate. (Azure only)
- Burst – Landing consecutive hits within a short amount of time increases the weapon's attack power for 4 seconds. Starts at 5% for rank 1 and increases to a maximum of 30% at rank 5. (amber only)
- Divine blessing – Gives a chance to reduce damage from a monster's attack. Rank 1 gives a 30% chance to reduce damage by 50%, while rank 5 gives a 50% chance to reduce damage by 80%. (amber only)
- Special boost – Increases the damage of special abilities. Rank 1 increases by 10%, while rank 5 increases by 30%. (just pale)
- Attack boost – Increases base attack power. Starts at 20, adding 20 per rank up to a maximum of 120 attack power. (Any drifting stone)
- Aggressive dodger – Increases the damage of any attack made following a perfect escape. Adds 10% per rank up to a maximum of 60%. (Any drifting stone)
