Preparation before battle
Bring some Amnesty charms TO remove Icebeast Chimenzahn's high attack and defense advantagewhich he will normally regain through it Breath of battle skill. Have someone in your party inherit Makarakarn TO remove the magic rejection of the Ice Beast buff, too.
Whether protagonist or Eupha (if you go by our party setup) they should have Medicall or the nearest decent equivalent to provide high healing to the entire party.
Other than these tips, you should be fine with what the party naturally brings to the table; Everfrost Forest isn't exactly the longest and most consumable dungeon in the game.

formation |
Strategy |
---|---|---|---|
Protagonist |
Soul Hacker* |
Girl |
Prepare a healing spell if you deal with healing tasks. Maintains Adventurer's Curiosity rolls to increase everyone's critical hit rate. Use the Winning Horse synthesis ability against the soldier; Fire spells like Seeker Flame are sufficient once the soldier is taken out. Deploy Amnesty Charms as needed. |
Hulkenberg |
Paladin** |
Girl |
The Wanton Destruction synth ability with Basilio should be used to further damage the soldier until he is down. Makes a good carrier for Makarakarn to remove the Repel Magic advantage. |
Eupha |
plead |
Back |
Summon Gargoyle for fire damage once the soldier is knocked down. It can also help with other synthesis skills. Prepare a healing spell if you are handling healing tasks instead of (or with) the protagonist. Deploy Amnesty Charms as needed. |
Basilio |
Berserker |
Girl |
Help the protagonist with the Winning Horse against the soldier. Use Wild Bore against the Icebeast after that. Any inherited fire abilities can help damage the chips. |
- The protagonist can just as easily use and Seeker of magic class if you haven't unlocked his elite form, Soul Seeker yet.
- Similarly, Hulkenberg can settle for Magic Knight if necessary.

Battle strategy
Our first order of business is to eliminate the soldier. There's very little point in doing a lot of damage to the Icebeast Chimenzahn beforehand as such the soldier will heal him with his last HP if he doesn't get rid of him in time.
While it's quite possible to avoid this scenario by removing it before you can do so, it's not worth the risk when you will have a harder time destroying the Ice Beast before the soldier disappears due to consistent type castings Mage Mirror to grant the creature Rejects magic.
To get rid of that soldier, use Strike-based synth abilities like Winning Horse and Wanton Destruction. Have the protagonist use Adventurer's Curiosity to increase everyone's critical hit ratealso.
The soldier should be coming down soon. After that, use Amnesty Talismans to get rid of the maximum attack and defense advantages that Icebeast Chimenzahn likes to use with them Breath of battle skill, and keep party-wide healing to combat the threat of his multi-target attacks.
You can also use
Makarakarn
which I recommended you have someone to inherit, to get rid of that boring
Rejects magic
buff that the soldier put on the Icebeast Chimenzahn.
With Repel Magic wasted, you'll have an easy time breaking through Icebeast Chimenzahn's substantial defenses with your most powerful fire-based attacks available. These may include:
- Summon Gargoyles
- The Seeker Flame
- The Infernal Vortex
- Vanguard of the Flame
And if you're lucky enough, even better Fire spells. (It will really depend on how far into Metaphor you are when you fight this boss; we're assuming you fight her shortly after you unlock it.)
If you can get it critical damage (aided by Adventurer's Curiosity) after use Load on Basilio (or another Berserker, we suspect) and then shoot Wanton Destructionyou're looking at over 3,000 damage in one hit. At that point, it's just a matter of getting the job done.
