How to defeat Azarian the Forsaken Son

The second act of Path of Exile 2 takes you to the Vastiri desert on the trail of the Beast of Corruption. Eventually, you'll face Jamanra, the Risen King, but he escapes into the desert before he can deliver the killing blow.

Below, we'll take a look at how to defeat Azarian, who guards the Essence of Water in Keth.

Where to find Azarian, the Forsaken Son

Azarian, the Forsaken Son is the final boss of the quest The city of seven waterswhich takes you to Keth in Act 2. After making your way KethTHE The Lost Cityand finally Buried shrinesyou'll find Azarian guarding the tomb of the Water Goddess.

How to defeat Azarian the Forsaken Son

This fight will take place in a square shaped arena with a large brazier in each corner of the room. If any attack, be it yours or the boss's, hit one of these brazierswill explode spreading fire to that corner of the arena.

If all four braziers are destroyed, most of the arena will be covered in this fire, making the very center of the arena the only safe place. This puts you at a serious disadvantage, as Azarian will frequently move into your position and use his attacks from the center of the arena, meaning you'll have to enter the fire to avoid them.

If you can,
avoid hitting these braziers while fighting Azarian
and try to keep him away from them.

Here are each of the attacks Azarian will use throughout the fight and how to avoid them.

Attack	Description	Notes
Advance on fire	Azarian will spin around his weapons as he charges forward in a straight line, dealing damage with each swing.	Before the attack, Azarian will charge very shorttelegraphing this attack. Follow this sign, then dodge to avoid damage.
Throwing the fireball	Azarian will dig his arm into the ground before throwing fireballs that spread out in a cone. This attack will sometimes produce a wall of fire along the path of the fireballs, which persists for a few seconds.	The fireballs that Azarian throws will be the opposite side pulls them out of the groundso you can get an idea of where they will fly.
Flame Strike	Azarian will extend his arms back before thrusting them forward, throwing a cone of fire	When Azarian he stretches out his armsprepare to dodge on either side of him to avoid this attack.
Flame Slam	Azarian will raise his arms before slamming them forward, creating two waves of fire in a short cone.	Azarian will turn around slightly when he uses this attack, so dodging immediately when you see him raise his arms you might get hit anyway. Instead, try wait until the last moment to avoid to the side.

Azarian will use this set of attacks until defeated. Among these attacks, Flame Slam deals the most damage and is harder to avoidbut the real danger of this fight is pools of flames created by broken braziers. Whatever you do, try to avoid breaking them; this will make your life much easier.

We recommend you
increasing fire resistance
for this fight. Any equipment that has fire resistance will greatly reduce the amount of damage you take and a
Ruby Charm
it will greatly aid your survival.

Depending on your class and form, you may have a harder or easier time with this boss. In general, the varied versions will be slightly saferbut i am more susceptible to pools of fire should explode a brazier as this will force you near the boss in the center of the arena where you are at a disadvantage.

On the other hand, melee builds will have to take care of Azarian's Flaming Advanceas can be drags you with himwhich can deal damage multiple times while putting you at a disadvantage.

In general, the key to victory against this boss and every other boss in PoE2 is to keep trying. Eventually, you will understand Azarian's patterns and attack timing, and at that point victory is only a matter of time.
