Players will face many different puzzles during their time Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 and 2 Remastered — two of the best games from Crystal Dynamics. These puzzles are not an optional choice to get a bonus item – like many modern games. Instead, these puzzles will completely stop your progress until you can overcome what they ask of you.
Melchiah is one of the many bosses in the game and will give players a new ability once they defeat him. However, players will first have to deal with a puzzle before they can find it. Navigation is much easier than the original PS1 game thanks to the newly added gameplay feature of a compass.

Melchiah Room Puzzle in Soul Reaver
Players will progress Necropolis to confront Melchiah. Some players might think it hides behind the big gate of a previous puzzle, but it actually comes shortly after. Players will know they are in Melchiah's room puzzle once they see his symbols all over the floor, along with an elevator at the other end of where they came from. Players will start by taking the elevator down to the bottom floor. Players can then take the left or right path.
Both are viable options, but 2 enemies will be encountered on the right path while only one will be on the left. The enemy on the left has a spear that impales them, meaning this can be used to deal with all 3 enemies without having to run back and forth picking up torches.
Don't kill the human guard. He will surrender when you approach him. Killing people in the game will make them turn against you. If you do them no harm, they will do you no harm. This isn't the only game that discourages harming innocent NPCs.
Once the player reaches the eastern part of the path, they will come across a door they can go through. Follow along the west wall and interact with the switch. Now head east again along the walls to find a large crank. Interact with this crank to start the big machine. This car will actually play an important role in the future boss battle against Melchiah.
Return to the elevator and take it back to the top. Pull the lever opposite the elevator to lower the central platform. Jump down and go to the northwest corner. Look along the west wall and you'll find a tunnel that you can use to travel down. Follow this tunnel to the other side to find a room with 4 blocks under burning fires. Each of these blocks can be pushed to a point where they will burn and destroy the wooden beams that support the central platform. Once the wood burning cutscene is over, move to the next block until the platform collapses.
Now you can push the blocks again. Push each block into one of the corners of the center platform. You'll hear a button click sound to confirm when one is pushed into the right place – making it feel like a puzzle from a The Legend of Zelda game. Once all 4 blocks are in place, the platform will fall again – solving the final part of this puzzle. Jump down onto the central platform and go east. You will follow a path to an open gate that will close behind you. This will trigger the boss fight against Melchiah.
