Caves of Quad can be haunting with so many mechanics and systems to keep in mind. Check out these tips to get started!
In this guide, we'll take a look at how to heal in the Caves of Qud. It will cover simple ways to heal quickly as well as how to heal any disease or condition you may have. With these measures, you may be able to avoid death and survive another day.
Heals every round
If you have absolutely no items on hand or in your inventory, then you'll be happy to know that each turn, you will regain some HP. This is a great way to get some HP back without using anything. If you have enough space, consider walking around a bit.
This can be a little time consuming if you have very low HP, but don't underestimate the power of stepping back and forth! Of course, that is not the best method of quick healing, but it can help you if you are in a difficult situation.
Use an injector
If you want to heal a little faster, you can too use an injector. The most common is Salve Injector, which will restore your HP in a few rounds. This isn't instant, but with a few Salve Injectors on hand, you can prevent your HP from getting too low.
Salve Injectors are a type of tonic and there are a few others that can help with HP recovery. For example, the Ubernostrum injector will restore HP every turn for ten turns and at the end of these turns, you will be cleared of “short-term biological debuffs” and grows a severed back appendage.
Eat and cook the right meals
Some foods will provide healing effects. This can be instant, but some cooked meals will increase your HP for a certain amount of time as well. When running out of materials, a great source of healing is Witch Bark. This is a simple material that it heals and confuses you at the same time. Healing overcomes confusion, then this is a great snack to recover HP.
Witchwood Bark is more common than things like Salve Injectors, but
make sure you're not surrounded by enemies when you eat it, or they can quickly overwhelm you.
There are also some foods that add HP-boosting effects to a meal, such as jerky bear When you look closely at this jerk, you will see that it is “adds HP-based effects to cooked meals”, which is great if you want something to eat before entering a dungeon.
You can mix the ingredients as you see fit to modify benefits, or you can follow a recipe. For example, the recipe for Apple Matz it is made with a stack of wafers and starapple jam. When consumed, you will have a faster healing rate.
How to cure status effects
In addition to pure damage, you can be affected by a variety of status effects. Fortunately, these can also be treated. For example, Yuckwheat stem (which I found sold in Kyakukya) will cure both confusion and poison. Additionally, if you are in the early stages of Glotrot or Ironshank (these are diseases), then you will receive a bonus the next day to overcome the disease.
Given this, it stands to reason that cooked with Yuckwheat stalk will provide similar effects. After you have preserved the buckwheat stalk in the fermented buckwheat stalk, you will get an ingredient that will add disease prevention and healing effects to meals.
You can also get disease prevention and healing effects from honey,
but this may not be as common as Yuckwheat. If you happen to come across honey, be sure to keep it handy in case you get sick. remember,
honey must be stored in a container as it is liquid.
How to stop bleeding
Bleeding is an unfortunate effect that will determine you takes damage over time and loses HP. The easiest way to stop the bleeding is to apply a bandage. This will stop the bleeding so it is important keep some bandages handy.
Another way to prevent healing (and a fungal infection at the same time) is to get or produce Boiled mushroom cider. This is Kyakukya's dish; you will be able to learn this recipe, but you can also get it for free from the oven in the most suitable house. This will increase your quick savings against bleeding and your chances of not developing a yeast infection.
This goes hand in hand with the previous entry. Whenever you visit a new settlement, make sure you look around for a potential dish, as well as someone who will teach it to you (during a water ritual). When you learn the recipe, you'll be able to eat it on the go rather than just when you're visiting the city.
