KFC has opened a new restaurant called Saucy that focuses on sauces and gravies, but its only location is in Orlando, Florida for now. Saucy's color scheme and concept is very different from the traditional KFC.
Kentucky Fried Chicken, otherwise known as KFC, was first founded by Harland “The Colonel” Sanders in 1952 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Since then, the grocery chain has grown into one of the largest fried chicken franchises in the world. KFC's Colonel Sanders himself is featured in the company's red-and-white logo, which is recognizable from any distance. KFC's menu consists mainly of fried chicken products marked by the iconic 11-spice recipe. The franchise is also known for its brand message of family and sharing. However, it looks like KFC is trying their luck with a new concept and a brand new restaurant.

On December 23, KFC began testing its new “Saucy” restaurant in Orlando, Florida. As the name suggests, Saucy's main focus is sauces and dips. The restaurant offers a total of 11 sauces, a nod to KFC's 11-spice chicken. Available dips include names like Jalapeno Pesto Ranch and Thai Sweet'N Spicy. Saucy's menu isn't limited to drinks though, as they also offer chicken, fries, coleslaw and more. But unlike KFC, Saucy's logo and decorations are bright pink. Furthermore, in an interview with CNN, KFC revealed that Saucy's target audience is Gen Z, an audience more interested in bold flavors. With Saucy, KFC plans to align with the recent trends in the industry. The restaurant has only one location for now, but could expand to other US cities if Saucy's concept proves popular.

Saucy's interior also carries its bold and loud concept with pink and orange decorations. Fans can dine inside or take their orders home at the drive-thru. Although it's only been a few days since Saucy opened, the location is already a hit with internet users, with content creators sharing videos of their orders on platforms like TikTok, YouTube and Reddit. It's common for food chains to introduce new concepts or products gradually to test the waters. In early December, Subway debuted long nachos at select locations in the US and Canada. Similarly, McDonald's launched a limited Chicken Big Mac through an extensive marketing campaign with Twitch streamer Kai Cenat.
If Saucy is successful, KFC could see an opportunity to get ahead of its US competitors. Of course, KFC is also very popular globally and has launched collaborations and exclusive products in other countries. For example, KFC Spain released a chicken Tamagotchi, while KFC China released an exclusive Genshin Impact toy line.
