Marvel Rivals may be in essence Overwatch with a thick coat of Marvel paint, but it's hard to deny how special and considered each character's implementation is so far. Marvel Rivals would have been able to go through each character for whatever superficial and sensational skill they most predominantly possessed, and yet proved to evaluate minute details and incorporate them into each character's playstyle, no matter how suboptimal they might seem in the field a 6v6. hero shooter (like Spider-Man's spider sense or wall crawling).
This would suggest that all future Marvel characters added to Marvel Rivalsthe list will get the same treatment and be thorough in their representation, which can be harder to pull off for some characters more than others. For example, Cyclops is pretty static as a character on paper, and while he hasn't been officially announced yet, he might be difficult to adapt to Marvel Rivals'landscape. That being said, the same could have been said about the characters on the list like Hulk, Groot or Rocket Raccoon and Marvel RivalsThe attention to detail continues to prove that Cyclops could be a welcome addition in the future.

Marvel Rivals can't leave a character out of its roster for very long
Marvel Rivals is expected to launch in December, and while a variety of heroes will be joining the roster, a character has yet to be announced.
Why Cyclops joins Marvel's rivals should be a no brainer
Cyclops' optical psionic blasts are insanely powerful, to be clear, but overall those red visor beams are arguably not as fun to watch as Spider-Man's web-pushing, repulsive blasts of Iron Man or even Captain America's shield.
However, in a 6v6 hero shooter like Marvel Rivals mostly revolving around skill-based action and long-range projectiles, Cyclops might actually be a key figure. Cyclops could keep opponents at bay with large optical bursts, perhaps with more modulation, such as rapid bursts launched as his main attack or a massive beam ability with lots of recovery frames.
Mobility is also a pillar of Marvel Rivals“, and it would be interesting to see if Cyclops' optic blasts could be used to allow for mid-air maneuverability. Marvel Rivals' Hero shooter packs a lot into each character, but their movesets aren't as varied or expansive as a regular action game, which is why Cyclops could be great with only a few attacks and skills he'd need in his arsenal or.
Additionally, this is a big reason why Cyclops is fantastic in simpler beat-'em-up games like Marvel Ultimate Alliance or series X-Men Legends as it doesn't need to be stretched thin to meet the demands of a larger suite of mechanics that wouldn't adequately represent the character. Marvel RivalsThe current choices for X-Men characters on the default roster are surprisingly diverse, though, and so it could be a while before they finally land on Cyclops on a list of possible additions.
Adapting Cyclops shouldn't look much further than Marvel Rivals' Captain America
Captain America's Freedom Charge Ultimate could be an inspiration for Cyclops since Scott Summers is the leader of his team and would be expected to have some sort of support ability as well. Freedom Charge grants Captain America and teammates “Continuous Health and Movement Boosts” the way it does, and it wouldn't be out of the question for Cyclops to buff himself and allies with a similar perk somehow.
Tapping into support tactics, Cyclops could easily charge in like Captain America and rally his teammates, arguably having more projectile-oriented versatility than Steve Rogers, whose shield throw is intrinsically tied to a certain ability, as well as consecutive blows to the body. Either way, while Cyclops may not be a particularly phenomenal character when placed next to someone like Magik, Storm, or Scarlet Witch, it seems like it will only be a matter of time before Scott, who has only recently gained praise and popularity through X-Men '97— gets a worthy adaptation.
