The head of the Saudi relief agency KSrelief visits projects helping earthquake victims in Turkey

RIYADH: The general supervisor of the Saudi humanitarian agency XRelief, Abdullah Al-Rabiyya, visited the cities of Reyhanli and Kirikhan in Turkey’s Hatay province on Tuesday to review the work of volunteers participating in the agency’s programs to help people affected by the earthquakes that hit. parts of Turkey and Syria last February.

Al-Rabeeah and his delegation reviewed the progress of the Saudi Voluntary Samaa Program for Hearing Rehabilitation and Cochlear Implants at the American MMT Hospital in Rayhanli, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Wednesday. He talked to the volunteers and learned how the program helps alleviate suffering.

The head of the aid agency praised the “outstanding performance of the Saudi crew” in carrying out various volunteer programs to help those affected by the earthquakes, and said their “efforts were under the generous patronage and continued support” of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The Kingdom will continue to implement humanitarian projects that serve people in need around the world, he added.

Al-Rabeeah also visited the vocational training center to review the support and assistance it provides to those affected by the earthquakes by helping them develop their skills and experience through courses in various subjects, including mobile phone and tablet maintenance, sewing and embroidery, and graphic design. design.

During a tour of the headquarters of the Center for Prosthetic Limbs and Rehabilitation in Hatay State, he was introduced to its work on the manufacture and installation of prosthetic limbs, as well as the rehabilitation and basic health services it provides to earthquake victims.

Al-Rabeeah is familiar with the work of the Saudi psychological support team for volunteers and has visited camps where they distribute food baskets, health supplies and gifts to children. He visited a specialist psychological clinic and got acquainted with the integrated system of medical and health services that it provides.

He commended health care providers for the services they provide to support patients of all ages to help them overcome the shock and psychological effects caused by the earthquakes.

Service users thanked the government and people of Saudi Arabia for the quick response to the earthquake by volunteer teams associated with XRelief to help them through the provision of vital medical assistance, food and shelter.

Al-Rabeeah met with the governor of Gaziantep, Kemal Ceber, and thanked him for the facilities the governorate provided to KSrelief to help implement its volunteer programs. Ceber praised the Kingdom for the humanitarian aid it provides, through KSrelief, to earthquake victims.

Al-Rabeeah also reviewed a project to provide 364 houses for people in the Islahiye area of ​​Gaziantep. The recipients thanked the Kingdom for providing them with the shelter they urgently needed after the earthquake, and said the temporary accommodation was of high quality and modern design.

KSrelief provided a total of 3,000 temporary housing units for earthquake victims in Syria and Turkey, including 1,500 in the Islah and Nurdag regions of Gaziantep and Adiyaman and Malatya governorates in Turkey and 1,500 in the Afrin region of Aleppo.

Each temporary housing unit has two rooms, equipped with basic furniture, and a bathroom. The agency also built a school that can accommodate 756 children, a prayer room that can accommodate 700 believers, 20 caravans for administrative and commercial use, 15 playgrounds for children and a well for water supply. XRelief also provides solar energy equipment and infrastructure for residential properties.

About 12,000 people have benefited from the housing so far, and work is underway to provide an additional 1,000 temporary homes in three parts of Hatay province, which are expected to benefit 5,000 people.
