NetherRealm Studios added a new skin for Tanya in the fighting game Mortal Kombat 1but the fandom is not happy with the design. Cosmetics should be modeled after the aesthetics of the 1993s Mortal Kombat 2which was released under Midway at the time for the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Intended to be an original design mixed with another game in the franchise, Tanya's skin is particularly disappointing for Mortal Kombat 1 player base.
Mortal Kombat 1 is the 12th main installment in the iconic IP and the second reboot following the 2011 entry. The game received a sequel Khaos Reigns expansion since its 2023 debut, and according to studio head Ed Boon, content will continue at a steady pace while NetherRealm works on another mystery project.
