One piece Fans have been deprived of manga chapters lately as Oda has taken a break not just for the sake of his own body, but to research and help the live-action team more. However, while this hiatus was definitely hard on some fans, it was also full of a lot of events. Not only did fans get a new volume release, which gave them access to a new SBS corner and saw Oda reveal a lot of exciting new information, but it also had the release of the latest Vivre card packs , which, again, was a huge source of information about many incredible things, especially related to the Cross and Navy Guild, which played a large role in the Egghead Island Arc.

Moreover, Oda also decided to do a question and answer event, where he revealed the answer to 10 very interesting questions and shocked the fans. Of course, many of these questions had cryptic information in them, and one of them pertains to a very important item that the Straw Hat Pirates may need, and it certainly hints at a major upcoming war in One piece.

Poneglyph location on Pirate Island

  • Law went to Pirate Island for a Poneglyph
  • Blackbeard has the Poneglyph right now

As fans already know, Poneglyphs are very important stones that carry important information. Poneglyphs can either indicate the location of another Poneglyph or indicate the location of an ancient weapon. Then there are the historical text fragments, which essentially tell a piece of Void Century history. These are the main types of Poneglyphs that fans see in One Piece, the rarest of which are all Road Poneglyphs, which are red in color and essentially indicate the location of the Final Island, Laugh Tale. As the Big Mom Pirates pointed out, there are essentially 9 Rio Poneglyphs. Each tells ancient history, and only by taking these Rio Poneglyphs to the Final Island, the Laugh Tale, can the true history of the world be revealed. Much of this was stated directly by Baron Tamago in the Whole Cake Island Arc.

Thank you for helping me during the Rocky Port incident! – Blackbeard

That being said, fans already know that Nico Robin has a huge role to play when it comes to deciphering these texts in the future, and he really wants to reveal what the Rio Poneglyph says in full. If he wants to know the whole story, he needs all 9 Rio Poneglyphs. Now, Oda didn't reveal anything about specific Poneglyphs or the information they carried in his QA session, but his answers about how the Rocky Port Incident came about definitely had an element that would be very interesting to all fans. Here's what Oda had to say about the Rocky Port incident:

Q9: Please tell us about the Rocky Port incident that led to Koby being named “The Hero”.

A9: I feel like it would take too long to draw, so I don't think it will be included in the main story.

To put it simply, after hearing that there was a poneglyph on Pirate Island, Law sneaked out and hijacked a huge passenger ship called “Rocky Harbour”, traveling to Pirate Island. The ship carried the king and other important figures of a particular country.

In reality, however, the ship Law boarded was a smuggling ship doing business with Pirate Island under the same country's flag, so some dangerous problems arose. Law then came into conflict with the pirates. And later, Koby and Blackbeard embarked on their respective goals, resulting in the three of them fighting together.

This is what became known as the incident. As the incident was resolved, Blackbeard became the king of the pirate island, Law joined the Royal Sea Warlords, and Koby came to be known as “The Hero”.

As clarified by Oda, Law only went to Rocky Port because he thought there was a Poneglyph there. Law is interested in learning the checkered fate of the world, just like Robin, and wants to know the true history behind the Celestial Dragons and those of D. Law is most interested in historical pieces, and this is one of the major reasons why he even went to Pirate Island and caused all the chaos in the first place. While Law has found this Poneglyph, the Straw Hat Pirates are far from it. In fact, invading Pirate Island is suicide right now, especially since the island is now ruled by none other than Yonko Blackbeard.

Must the Straw Hat Pirates visit Pirate Island?

The Straw Hats may be joining the war on Pirate Island soon

The latest information regarding the Rocky Port Incident is certainly very interesting, but one thing that fans may be overlooking is that the Rocky Port Incident happened in part because of a Poneglyph that Law wanted to obtain. It's likely that he went to get this Poneglyph for himself, and since he didn't share it with Luffy, what fans know is that the Straw Hat Pirates still don't have access to this Poneglyph. It is highly unlikely that this is a Poneglyph that tells the location of ancient weapons, as the Law is not interested in that. The only Poneglyphs that Law is interested in are the ones that tell the true history of the world and are somewhat related to the history of the D-men of the Ancient Kingdom.

The most powerful Haki user of the current era is revealed by Oda. Here's what Oda had to say.

All of which means that the Poneglyph is currently in the possession of none other than Blackbeard. Nico Robin, who wants to reveal the entire Rio Poneglyph, needs this stone if he ever wants to fulfill his dream. At this point, Robin is very far from achieving this goal, and it will most likely not be easy to infiltrate Pirate Island and find out this information. Robin has to somehow get around this, which makes for a very interesting Arc.

Fans may be wondering if the Straw Hat Pirates will have to visit Pirate Island one way or another. This is a very interesting part of the story that could see Luffy get involved as well. And, the answer to that question is definitely yes. There's a reason why the Straw Hats should visit Pirate Island, and this is when Robin might take over. Poneglyph for herself. The answer to this question lies in a major war that will take place on this island, which could destroy it for good.

Why Luffy Vs Blackbeard Will Solve The Poneglyph's Secrets

Luffy will soon have to face Blackbeard

Blackbeard from One Piece 1124

The reason why the Straw Hat Pirates will go to Pirate Island is quite simple. As fans know, Blackbeard is currently the ruler of Pirate Island. But, his plans are quite sinister. He wants to trade Garp for country status for Pirate Island, which he believes the world government will agree to. But in fact the government will never accept the deal. Instead, the world government will likely launch an all-out assault on Pirate Island, leading to a war. The scale of this war will probably be very similar to the Paramount War, only this time, a pirate's island will see marines attack it, whereas previously, a marine fortress was attacked by pirates.

Clearly, the marines will be at a disadvantage in this battle, and just like in the last war, Luffy will find himself involved here as well. The reason Luffy might be involved has to do with Garp's character. Luffy's grandfather Garp himself was captured. Although Luffy could let Garp live his own life and let other individuals save him, fans know that now, through Caribou, Blackbeard also knows the location of Shirahoshi and at the same time, Pluto. These two elements could come into play and if Blackbeard successfully captures them later, then Luffy will be forced to move and join this war.

Blackbeard from One Piece laughing maniacally

When Luffy joins in, a Blackbeard versus Luffy showdown will finally be staged, and this could potentially be where Blackbeard is defeated for good. If defeated, Robin will most likely gain access to this Poneglyph and add it to a collection before heading to Laugh Tale.

One Piece can be read through Viz Media. The series can be read by fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and Manga Plus apps. The release date for the next One Piece chapter, One Piece 1131, is set for November 10, 2024.
