The second game in the Pokemon Legends spin-off series, Pokemon Legends: ZA, takes place in the distant past of the Kalos region of Pokemon X & Y. If the game is anything like its predecessor, Pokemon Legends: Arceus, we are bound to adventure by playing history of the Kalos we have come to know and love.
The Kalos region is large and beautiful, so it would be a shame to limit the scope of the game to only exist in the city of Lumiose. There are lush forests, frost-filled caves, and beautiful beaches for players to explore, just to name a few of the spectacular locations that Kalos has to offer. We can only hope that we can explore the vast region of Kalos and appreciate it for all it is worth.
8 Snowbelle Town
Before the city meets the eternal frost
In Pokemon: X & Y, the town of Snowbelle is covered in snow caused by the frigid temperatures in the Pokemon Gym. Since Legends: ZA takes place in a time before Pokemon and humans were closely united, it is unlikely that Snowbelle City was the winter wonderland it became in the future, if it was even a city at all. However, the area could still serve as a proper snowy location, such as Alabaster Icelands in Legends: Arceus.
The area around Snowbelle also includes the notable Pokemon Village, where certain Pokemon live in hiding for various reasons. In Pokemon: X & Y, the Unknown Dungeon was also here, where Mewtwo can be found. Since Mewtwo has two Mega Evolutions, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to imagine that we could find him here.
7 Santalune Forest
A wooded region for fresh beginnings
If any place in Kalos is perfect to start your Pokemon journey outside of Lumiose City, it's the space between Aquacorde City and Santalune City. There you can find beautiful flowing rivers, green fields and the vast and winding Santalune Forest.
If this was the first location we were sent to on our Pokemon expeditions, it would have some clear parallels to the Obsidian Fieldlands from Legends: Arceus. Hisui's heart became Sinnoh's Eternal Forest, a deep forest comparable to Santalune Forest. Obsidian Fieldlands also covers lands that became Sinnoh's early game locations, such as Twinloaf Town and Sandgem Town, making X and Y fans nostalgic for its early towns.
6 The city of Ambrette
Where Pokemon Fossil can roam
Ambrette Aquarium from the Pokemon anime.
Kalos has several charming towns that dot its beaches, reminiscent of Hisui's Cobalt Coast. This region could cover the space between Ambrette Town and Cyllage City, complete with caves like Connecting Cave and Glittering Cave.
In addition to the many seafaring Pokemon you can find on the beach and in the water, Ambrette Town is also known for its fossil laboratory. According to the town map description, no one really cared about the town of Ambrette until fossils were discovered in the area. If there are no time warp zones in the game, you may find Pokemon like Amaura and Tyrunt here. If such areas exist in the game, you will likely find such Fossil Pokemon in distortion areas.
5 The city of Shalour
Introduction to Mega Pokemon
The Tower of Mastery in Shalour City from the Pokemon anime.
Mega Pokemon have been confirmed to appear in Pokemon Legends: ZA, but you have to get your first Mega Stone somewhere. What better place than Shalour City? The Northern Tower of Dominion may not exist during ZA's story, but the island probably would. Perhaps this is where the Mega Stones were first discovered.
In addition to its importance to Mega Pokemon, Shalour City is located north of Reflection Cave, with its winding paths and mirror-like walls. Maybe a secret lies in its deepest depths, or maybe not. It would be a great reason for players to explore the area, at least.
4 The Perfume Palace and the Shabboneau Castle
Where Kalosian nobles and royalty call home
Parfum Palace in the Pokemon anime.
It's hard to say how far into the past Legends: ZA takes place. It could be 100 years or 300 years. Either way, the Perfume Palace and Shabboneau Castle would be a wonderful way to add insight into the history of Kalosian royalty.
The Perfume Palace was built 300 years ago by the King of Kalos after the war with the neighboring regions, although more recently it was repurposed as a museum during X & Y. Shabboneau Castle is more of a mansion belonging to the Kalosian nobility, although the owners they gave away most of their assets by the time of the 3DS games. Both locations could provide an adequate glimpse into the lives of Kalosian royalty and nobility in the past.
3 The city of Laverre
Autumn beauty and muddy bogs
Laverre City from the Pokemon anime.
The city of Laverre is built around an ancient tree that houses the Laverre Gym in modern times. This ever-fallen region is beautiful to look at, and seeing it in a more natural state can impress players all the more.
However, if this city were added to Legends: ZA, the area could also include the marshy swamps of nearby routes such as Route 14, making the area reminiscent of Hisui's Crimson Mirelands. This location could be placed later in the game, as Laverre Gym is the sixth you encounter in X and Y. The region could also get frequent rain, helping players develop their Sliggoo into a Goodra.
2 The city of Dendemille
Windmills and chills
Dendemille Town from the Pokemon anime.
Dendemille Town is a rural farming town known for its windmill and frozen cave in the north. It is located at a high altitude, possibly making it a winter region in the past, comparable to the alabaster Icelands.
While Snowbelle City is actually the snowiest city in X and Y, Dendemille City would be a more natural place for a snowy location in the past, or at least lead to the Cold Ice Cave, which would be full of ice. snow and climate-appropriate Pokemon.
1 Geosenge City
Quiet stones speak volumes
Geosenge Town from the Pokemon Evolutions anime.
Geosenge Town is notable for the Stonehenge-like structure located at its center. Since the real-world Stonehenge was built long in the past, it wouldn't be a stretch to imagine that we could visit the city of Geosenge in some capacity, even if it's not a real city during the time period it takes place the game.
The ultimate weapon that nearly destroyed the world is also hidden beneath Geosenge Town, making it a fitting place for the endgame. There is no guarantee that the ultimate weapon will actually play any role in Legends: ZA, but we can assume that based on the fact that ZA is AZ backwards, AZ's dark past might have some relevance in the game.
