Pokemon TCG Pocket is a pale imitation of the card collecting hobby
Pokemon TCG Pocket is style over substance.
According to a report by mobilegamer.biz, Pokemon TCG Pocket is currently doing even better than the juggernaut that is Pokemon Go, which earns around $1 million a day. Maybe that's just the momentum of the newbies, but if TCG Pocket keeps going like this, the power hierarchy in the Pokemon universe is about to change.
That means a LOT of packages
According to the report, much of the credit for this goes to the Japanese player base, which accounts for 45% of the game's revenue. It's hardly surprising given Pokemon's immense popularity in its home country. The US followed with 25%, Hong Kong and Taiwan with 4% each, and South Korea, New Zealand and France with 3% of total revenue.

The TCG card shop simulator thrives where Pokemon fails
TCG Card Shop Simulator has gone viral for good reason: it succeeds where Pokemon failed.
However, when it comes to the player base, things are quite different. The US is way ahead with 29% of all downloads, followed by Brazil with 11% of the total. Mexico is in third place with 6%, followed by Japan, Germany, the UK and France, each with around 4% of total downloads year-to-date. This difference between regional revenue and downloads only shows how much Japanese players are spending on Pokemon TCG Pocket.
Despite its immense popularity, players have complained about long wait times and expensive items in the in-game store. However, this was met with the Pokemon company introducing another show with 50 percent higher prices. Considering Pack Hourglasses and Wonder Hourglasses, which allow players to skip the extended waiting time between opening packs, are only available in this premium store, we can see why players would spend their money here.
Maybe players are spending so much hoping for a god pack. In a nod to the physical TCG, Pokemon TCG Pocket has included these mythic packs in the game. While the odds of you pulling one are extremely low, players have taken to social media to show that they've been lucky enough to pull off these god-elusive decks.
