Warhammer 40,000: Space Marines 2 is one of the most popular titles of 2024 and it looks like the future is bright for the title, especially on PS5 Pro. Space Marines 2 it already has impressive graphics, but it's hoped that some new PS5 Pro features will take the game's visuals to the next level.
The PS5 Pro is Sony's newest console, set to launch on November 7, and uses a range of cutting-edge technologies, including AI-upscaling for both graphics and frame rates. PlayStation claimed that the console would be “the most visually impressive way” to experience PlayStation games, however, many fans and developers expressed concern over the PS5 Pro's high price and lack of a physical disc drive. Other developers are more optimistic about the PS5 Pro.
In an interview with IGN, studio creative director Tim Willits expressed his optimism for the future of game performance on the upcoming PS5 Pro, specifically referring to frame rates and the Pro's new PSSR feature. “What I'm excited about is the AI boost to the graphics,” he said, “I've got my amazing AMD machine (…) and the game looks great. But when I play on PS5, I play performance.”
Space Marine 2 could be taken to the next level with PSSR
Willits explained that the Xbox Series X typically outperforms its PS5 counterpart by around 10-15 FPS, despite both targeting the same settings and resolution. These issues were especially prevalent in very demanding scenes, such as spawning large hordes of enemies or using the flamethrower. Like Nvidia's DLSS and AMD's Fluid Motion Frames, the PS5 Pro's generation of PSSR frames is expected to deliver significantly higher frame rates with no noticeable loss of quality or resolution.
While admitting he's no tech guru, Willits expressed hope that even in the PS5 Pro's performance mode, Space Marines 2 it will look better than the current console's Quality mode. The PS5 Pro's improved GPU will also provide an increase in graphics capabilities for the console, meaning that in combination with PSSR's higher frame rates, Space Marines 2 it might look better than ever on the upcoming console. However, no plans have yet been made to bring the game to the PS5 Pro Enhanced list.
Space Marines 2 continues to enjoy great success, DLC and major updates on the horizon. In any case, players can rest assured that the developers are doing their best to ensure that the game will be at the forefront of innovation when it comes to graphics and performance. Whether this will matter that much to players remains to be seen Space Marine 2 is they are selling well across the globe and the game is being met with mostly positive reviews, as it already is.
