Resident Evil 9 was officially confirmed to be in development in July during Capcom's Summer Showcase. Despite some murmurs suggesting it might be revealed there, Resident Evil 9 was a no-show at the recent Game Awards, meaning the long-awaited sequel still hasn't been officially revealed yet. But that hasn't stopped a landslide of leaks and rumors from surfacing over the past year or so.

Some of the most popular rumors around Resident Evil 9 are those concerning the potential protagonists of the game. There have been several conflicting rumors on this topic, some of which are supportive Resident Evil 9 will be a Chris Redfield solo adventure, some of which claim it will be a Jill Valentine and Leon Kennedy team game, and some of which claim it will feature almost the entire team of resident evil inherited characters. Rebecca Chambers
