How Trader Quest levels work in 7 days to die
Here's a breakdown of how the merchant quest levels work in the survival game 7 Days to Die.
Knowing which cards to look for can help players survive the harsh post-war ruins of Navezgane (and all other maps). While most players will have their own opinions on which cards are the best, there are a handful of cards. which most players prioritize over all others.
The best places to find books
Players can find books and magazines everywhere. That said, there are some places that tend to be more fruitful than others. The first is the merchants. All merchants will sell at least one or two cards. Since their inventory refreshes every few days, players can end up finding some of the cards they're missing by checking merchants regularly.
The next way to get a lot of books is to rob Crack-A-Book stores. These shops can mostly be found in cities, but depending on the map, you may find some of these shops along quiet streets. These stores usually contain about a dozen books that are just there for the taking.
The best and easiest way to find books is to look in mailboxes and newsstands. Since they can be found outside POIs, there's no need to actually step inside a building. Simply go street by street, looting mailboxes and newsstands to build up quite a large collection of books and magazines very quickly.
9 Wasteland Treasures Volume 1
Getting infected becomes less stressful
- Adds a small chance to harvest honey from trees
Never getting infected is not ideal. Unfortunately, it's nearly impossible for players to go more than a few days without getting infected. Being infected isn't too much of a problem once the player has a decent stock of remedies. But this stock takes some time to accumulate. To help gather remedies faster, players should keep an eye out for Volume 1 of Wasteland Treasures. This card gives the player a small chance of finding honey when cutting down trees. Honey heals up to 5% of the player's infection status. While it's not much, it's definitely better than nothing.
8 Knock Up! Volume 6
Sends enemies flying
- Heavy club attacks have a 20% chance on Ragdoll enemies
At first glance, this book appears to be more for entertainment than beneficial use. However, this card gives the player a very strong advantage; the ability to ragdoll enemies. Besides being pretty funny, sending enemies flying can be incredibly useful when dealing with large groups of zombies.
It's not uncommon for players to find themselves overrun by zombies in an enclosed space. Having the chance to throw a zombie across the room could give the player enough room to get past the rest of the undead and escape quickly.
7 Night Stalker Volume 4
Transport more back to base after dark
- Never encumbered at night
Most players will end up in a situation where they stay away from loot for too long and have to make a perilous journey back to base while being weighed down by all sorts of goodies. Carrying too much slows the player down. The more the player carries, the slower they will move. Since most players won't lighten their load, this card is just what they need to get home in a hurry. Once read, players will never be burdened at night. This is great for all those hoarders who like to grab everything they see.
6 Bar Brawling Volume 5
Struggle makes you stronger
- Recover 1 hit point with each hit
Fists and fist weapons can be very powerful. With the right setup and plenty of beer, players can wipe out enemies without having to rely on bullets or explosives. Bar Brawling Volume 5 gives players the ability to heal 1 HP with each hit. While this isn't much considering how fast the player can play, this card can make them immortal.
Players can charge through hordes of enemies, hitting them as they pass and taking virtually zero damage. This card works best when the player has a full set of decent armor and some skill points in perks like The Brawler.
5 Tech Junkie Volume 5
Sends enemies flying
- Unlocks the ability to create a repulsor mod
The Stun Baton is a very powerful weapon in its own right. However, with the Repulsor mod, this weapon becomes almost unstoppable. Reading Tech Junkie Volume 5 will give players the ability to craft the Repulsor module. When equipped, the Stun Baton will send enemies flying with each charged shot.
Not only will all nearby enemies be sent flying, but the zombie/creature that took the charged hit will take electrical damage while stunned on the ground. This weapon is perfect for taking out points of interest as it allows the player to keep zombies at bay quite easily.
4 Magnum Enforcer Volume 4
Save some dukes
- Trading in a stripped .44 gives the player a 5% discount.
Merchants tend to overcharge players for goods, especially in the early stages of the game. Magnum Enforcer Volume 4 gives players a 5% discount at the merchant when they have a 0.44 drawn. This rather comical way to get a discount can be very useful when used alongside other barter perks, armor pieces and supplies.

7 Days To Die can be a tough challenge for newcomers. With these beginner tips, players can not only survive, but thrive.
While getting Dukes isn't really a problem in the late game, having a discount is always a nice bonus. To get the most out of this advantage, it's worth keeping a chest outside merchant settlements filled with all the items that give the player better prices. This should include a .44 magnum.
3 Wasteland Treasures Volume 6
Never run out of canvas again
- Learn to weave plant fibers into cloth
Cloth is a key resource for crafting important items such as bandages and duct tape. While it can be found fairly easily, getting enough to keep the player stocked is a seemingly impossible challenge. Wasteland Treasures Volume 6 allows players to create cloth using plant fibers. Since plant fibers can be found almost everywhere, especially in the forest region, players can simply go out and grab a handful of this abundant resource and use it to create as much cloth as they need.
2 Urban Combat Volume 7
Become stronger within
- Take 5% and do 10% more damage inside
Deleting points of interest is something most players will do on a regular basis. This means you end up in small areas with all sorts of undead enemies. Each POI is full of trigger points and traps that are designed to force the player to go toe to toe with a bunch of zombies. As players progress and build a set of top-notch armor, fighting hordes of undead in a confined space isn't all that dangerous. However, in the early and mid game, players can find themselves in some very difficult situations if they are not careful.
Urban Combat Volume 7 allows players to deal more damage inside and take more damage at the same time. This means that players will have a better chance of surviving falling into a pit full of zombies after reading this book.
1 Urban Combat Volume 5
Stop booming!
- Landmines will not detonate when stepped on
Accidentally setting off a mine is not a very good way to go! Places like military outposts usually have mines scattered around the outside of the base. To avoid triggering them, players can try to move carefully, shoot them from a distance, drive zombies through the minefield, or read Urban Combat Volume 5. This handy card will prevent the player from ever experiencing death by stepping on a landmine again.
This card not only works for players on foot, but it also works for vehicles. Players can drive over me in any of the game's vehicles and not have to worry about causing a huge explosion.
