During the game Marvel Rivalsyou'll usually be thrown into the Convoy or Convergence game modes, where a team must first take control of a vehicle and then escort it to a specific location. If you are on the defensive side in these modes, you have only one task – prevent enemies from being anywhere around the vehicle.

Marvel Rivals: How to Counter Iron Fist
Iron Fist might hit hard, but with the right moves, you'll be blowing him away in no time.
This makes it a second priority to kill, and it becomes more important to use heroes that would generally delay enemy movement instead of defeating them all. Fortunately, there are quite a variety of options for this.

Loki
A champion without a doubt
If you defend something in any game mode, you can bet on Loki as the safest choice for Strategist. This character can make his clones around the main objective, which not only helps block enemy fire, but also discourages them since they will see so many HP bars when they come around the area.
Aside from that, Loki can also form healing circles around his clones whenever his ability is ready, making it much easier for allies to stay out in the open and keep enemies from coming.

Adam Warlock
Revive your teammates
Adam Warlock is probably one of the most underrated strategists in the game, as there's a lot more to his kit than meets the eye. First, he can create a bond between multiple characters and allow all damage to be shared between them, which is great for countering a good amount of endgame.

Even if enemies get a good ending and wipe out your team, Adam's ending can revive them and bring them right back into the fight. This can completely destroy an enemy's push setup.

Iron Man
It's raining Gamma
When you're playing offense in Marvel Rivals and trying to find a way to get to the vehicle, there's nothing more frustrating than a tiny Iron Man visible up in the air constantly firing AoE projectiles at you. This is the main reason why Iron Man is quite good at defense, especially in open maps.
You don't even have to defeat the enemies. Simply show up, fire a few projectiles at them to draw their attention to you, then move them away from the objective. You can repeat this until one of the enemies expands and gives you a free kill.

Knight of the Moon
They won't know what hit them
When your enemies try to reach the main objective, they are likely to group and attack together. This makes the situation perfect for a Moon Knight player, as all of his projectiles can bounce between enemies and deal multiple instances of damage.
If you see several enemies in the same area, you can also place an Ankh between them with the Ancient Ankh ability and simply fire at it to either disperse them or wipe them out before they can realize what happened. The best part about this character is that you can easily escape if someone comes after you.
3
Punisher
The tower is oppressive
The Punisher might be one of the easiest characters to play in Marvel Rivals because you just have to sit and shoot, but he's still a great pick when you're on defense for obvious reasons. First, you can simply place a turret in a hidden area to prevent enemies from advancing for a period of time.

As long as a teammate is watching your back, this ability itself can be particularly oppressive. If they get past that, you can also launch your ultimate to mow down the enemies if they don't back off and hide.
2
Parker pens
The best defense tank
When it comes to defensive Vanguard characters, Peni Parker is undoubtedly the best choice. It's actually hard to lose with this character on your team as long as you have decent team members. She can place multiple mines and spider webs all over the ground near the vehicle, and approaching enemies will take significant damage.
As long as your team can keep enemies from getting too close too often, this setup will help you take them out of the equation when they reach the objective. Finally, her ultimate can easily be used to push everyone back a long way.
1
Groot
I'm Groot
It's pretty obvious why Groot is a good choice on defense even just by reading his kit, as he can place multiple walls on demand which can block enemies, especially in small lanes. This may not seem like much in the short term, but it can have a huge impact in the long run as you make enemies break through walls constantly.
If they get tired of that and start ignoring your walls, you can give them extra damage or set up some finishing combos easier for them since movement for them is limited to a certain area.
