Sakamoto versus Shin

The first fight in the series introduces us to the two main characters, Taro Sakamoto and Shin Asakura, in a fun mini-fight in Sakamoto's convenience store.

Shin is an assassin who admires what Sakamoto was and is tasked with killing him, although he hesitates. What follows is a quick fight in the store, where we see that not only is Sakamoto still strong, but he can use a variety of mundane objects to get the job done.

Shin and Lu versus Saw

During the Death Row Prisoners arc, four death row inmates are tasked with eliminating people from X's hit list, including Sakamoto and his friends. One of these prisoners is Saw, an eccentric man obsessed with giving people an interesting ending, and ends up confronting Shin and Lu in a supermarket.

This fight is great because it gives us some improvement for Shin in his ability to see the future in intense fights, as well as seeing another drunken side of Lu where she turns into a protective member of the Triad.

Nagumo versus minimalist

This fight shows us how much Nagumo is on a different level than the rest of our group. The scene is also very intense and cathartic as it starts with Minimalist going to kill Aoi, only for it to actually be Nagumo in disguise.

Once this is revealed, the tables completely turn from a scary situation to a complete put down. More of what Nagumo has up his sleeve is revealed, and the serial killer thought to be the scariest is easily taken down by him, leading to a surprisingly short but very entertaining ending to Minimalist.

Meeting at JAA

This is not a single battle, but rather a short but impactful combination of small battles in JAA. X, who reveals himself to be Uzuki, along with his underling Gaku, storms the JAA and wipes out a third of the employees, before Sakamoto, Shin, and Apart crash into the building.

A fast-paced, bloody battle between the great players ensues. This fight shows how strong this new character Gaku is, how strong Takamura is, and that Sakamoto and Shin need to train before they have a chance against X and his group.

Sakamoto versus Kanaguri

This is one of those fights that is satisfying because of how irritating Kanaguri is as an antagonist. But he's not just an annoying character in his personality, he's also able to hold his own against Sakamoto, meaning it's not just a satisfying fight, but a useful one-on-one.

Sakamoto really got to break out of his lean form for the first time in a long time, which is always a hype moment to see. There are some fun and unique fight setups as well as choreography, such as Kanaguri using his film reels as a tool in battle. No matter how much you might hate Kanaguri, seeing someone who can keep up with Skinny Sakamoto is worth giving him your flowers.

Sakamoto versus Kashima

This is probably the best fight from the early stages of the manga and really sets the stage for what to expect from the future of the story as well as future fights. Sakamoto confronts Kashima, the cyborg man in a suit and deer mask, who is a subordinate of X.

This fight has it all. Kashima is a threat with his countless blades, but Sakamoto uses creativity to help gain the upper hand, which is a lot of fun to watch. The fight then ends with a stunning shot of Sakamoto in his thin form tucked behind Kashima on the train, proving that there was no contest once he got serious.

Takamura versus everyone

Takamura is one of the coolest and most mysterious characters in the story. Every time he appears, he displays impressive power without saying anything. In this battle, the old man takes on not one, not two, not even three, but four of our strongest characters, and boy is he in for a treat.

Concluding the museum arc, it is revealed why Takamura is such a feared and respected member of the order. He faces Nagumo, Skinny Sakamoto, Gaku, and Haruma, and they can barely scratch him. The fight is intense and full of amazing art and choreography, as well as an important story, and it's the very first time Takamura speaks.

Nagumo versus Gaku

Nagumo and Gaku are some of the best characters in manga and seeing them fight was a dream come true. Honestly, whether this fight or the previous one with Takamura is number one comes down to personal preference, as both are exceptional.

Nagumo and Gaku are both very charismatic and fun to watch, so seeing them face off makes for one of the most entertaining battles in the manga. Gaku is able to handle one of the strongest members of the order, Nagumo shows off his arsenal and how he can handle someone like Gaku, all with amazing fight choreography and banter from both characters.
