The Finale is getting a PS5 Pro update

Popular live-service shooter finals is the latest addition to the growing list of enhanced PlayStation 5 Pro games. Although developer Embark Studios has yet to reveal details about the finals' PS5 Pro patch, preliminary testing indicates that the first-person shooter runs more smoothly on the updated console.

Developed by Embark Studios and published by Nexon, finals released in December 2023 and immediately caught the attention of players due to its unique game show concept. Essentially a first-person PvP shooter, finalsThe gameplay loop involves two teams facing off in a series of combat-focused game modes. YouTuber PS5 Pro Rob tested finals after the PS5 Pro patch went in recently, but the improvements are unspecified even within the game. They noted that finalsThe video settings menu has no graphical toggles on the PS5 Pro, which is rather strange, as most other PS5 Pro-enhanced games offer performance and fidelity options that clearly outline what they entail. It also seems that finals does not offer a high refresh rate setting of 120 Hz for PS5 Pro users, which is unfortunate because a smoother framerate is very important for first-person shooters. PS5 Pro Rob noted this finals it seems to run at a more stable 60fps on the PS5 Pro, but without a proper framerate graph, it's hard to be sure.

The apparent lack of a 120fps mode is also a missed opportunity, and one can only hope that Embark Studios has plans to further expand PS5 Pro support for finals.
