This list of nominees was revealed by The Game Awards early last week, and it seems to have positively affected their sales momentum since then. GamesIndustry.biz's Christopher Dring recently took to Twitter to share GSD data from Europe and it reveals an increase in sales for many titles nominated in various The Game Awards categories.

Weekly sales increases for Game Awards nominees

  • Astro Bot: 61%

  • Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: 268%
  • Metaphor: ReFantazio: 172%
  • Silent Hill 2 Remake: 43%

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was released in early 2024, but enjoyed a staggering 268% week-over-week sales increase, the biggest on this list. Metaphor: ReFantazio came in second with a 172% increase, with Astro Bot ranking third with 61% higher sales. Even if the Bloober team Silent Hill 2 the remake was snubbed for Game of the Year 2024, still saw a respectable 43% increase and Elden Ring closely followed with a 38% increase in sales. However, The Game Awards may not have been the only factor behind the spikes, as Dring noted in a follow-up tweet that game sales naturally increase during the holiday season each year.

Regardless, the heightened curiosity surrounding games nominated in major categories at The Game Awards cannot be understated. Separate data released earlier this week showed that Balatro also experienced a major jump in sales on mobile platforms after racking up five nominations for The Game Awards 2024.
