Modern Pokemon face a difficult challenge once they debut in the Pokemon TCG as there are numerous established favorites up against them. Duraludon was lucky because it debuted during the Sword & Shield era, which includes several valuable sets with exceptional card lists to collect.
While Duraludon isn't popular enough to compete with the most expensive cards of the Sword & Shield era, it has carved out a nice niche for itself, especially in Evolving Skies, where many cards have increased in value in response to its growing popularity of the set. This group sets the stage for a long and successful career as the current best Duraludon cards in the Pokemon TCG.
Cards are ordered by their TCGPlayer
market price,
which is what you might pay on average for a copy of the cards below.
5 Duraludon VMAX: Prize Pack Series (Ultra Rare) – $4.93
A coin game
Duraludon starts with an unusual card among the most valuable: a Prize Pack Series version of his Duraludon VMAX art from Evolving Skies. Cards from the prize pack series are distributed to participants as special packs at official Pokemon TCG events.
While the regular Ultra Rare version of this card from Evolving Skies retails for less than a dollar,
the prize pack stamp in the lower right corner sends the value up.
while this card used to be around $8.00, over time it continued to drift towards lower plateaus, reaching $6.50, $5.30 and $5.00 before continuing its descent to its current value. After dropping below the five dollar mark, it's hard to say where this card can see a comeback because it could continue to decline if it doesn't bounce back soon.
4 Duraludon VMAX: Silver Tempest (Trainer Gallery) – $4.95
A sprawling urban landscape
This gorgeous Trainer's Gallery card is one of the best of the Silver Tempest, featuring Raihan climbing onto his signature Pokemon's head and letting out a primal roar. Raihan and Duraludon mirror each other perfectly in this scene, displaying their deep connection.
Trainer Gallery cards feature Pokemon trainers in life-like scenes with one of their signature Pokemon, with many versions
depicting the Pokemon in their Dynamax or Gigantamax form.
This Duraludon VMAX Trainer gallery sits just a few pennies above the Prize Pack Series card, clinging to a tiny lead as its value continues to drop from $5.25. While some recent NM sales dipped as low as $4.02, others rose as high as $5.45, indicating that there is a strong demand for clean children.
3 Duraludon VMAX: Evolving Skies (Secret Rare) – $7.01
A perfect rainbow secret, rare
VMAX cards are some of the most valuable of the Sword & Shield era, standing out as the generation's signature stylistic distinction. This Rainbow Secret Rare embodies how beautiful this color palette can look when used on a Pokemon that features the right canvas.
A good Rainbow Secret Rare candidate usually has a white or light color palette, but other monochromatic and simple designs can work.
In general, the simpler the design, the better.
This Duraludon VMAX used to command over nine bucks, but it fell below seven dollars before starting a rally back up the charts. Recent sales have seen this card shoot from six dollars in the range of $7.20 before retreating gently towards the seven dollar plateau. However, it maintains strong support at this number, leaving room for further rallies ahead.
2 Duraludon V: Evolving Skies (Full Alternate Art) – $11.61
Raihan's Ace Pokemon
Continuing with Evolving Skies, Raihan shares a gorgeous scene with his ace Pokemon, Duraludon, as this talented pair cook up a delicious meal together, with Duraludon ready to dig in. Phone Rotom also appears in the upper right, adding more detail that brings this scene to life.
Multiple characters in one scene
generally indicates that the card is likely to fetch a higher value because it appeals to a wider audience.
Including food, popular Pokemon (especially Pikachu or Eevee), or other special details adds even more to a card's appeal.
While this card is long term downtrend from $16 to current mark is disappointing, it has maintained a solid value around $10.60 lately, promoting a market price of $11.60 on the back of some sales in the $15 range. Copies that are likely to receive a perfect grade usually command a premium, but more sales are needed to determine if this card can return to its former heights.
1 Duraludon VMAX: Evolving Skies (Alternate Art Secret) – $17.98
Growth in the future
While Duraludon will never be among the most expensive cards in Evolving Skies, this Alternate Art Secret Rare version claims the crown as the most valuable Duraludon version in the set. Duraludon's Dynamax transformation is nearly complete in this amazing illustration of Duraludon's rapid growth.
Duraludon ends up fulfilling its skyscraper purpose after Dynamaxing to this size.
However, the value of this card has experienced a quick decline from a high of $27 used to enjoy collapsing to around $18 before slowly settling into its new home, hovering gently above and below this new reference point. However, its value seems stable around this indicator as this card seems determined not to drop back down to the $14 region.
