Elbaf has been giving fans some of the most interesting tidbits for the past few months and continues to deliver one exciting tidbit after another with each passing chapter. Chapter 1136 of One Piece was the most significant in this regard, as fans were able to see the mention of a whole new era where the original Sun God and liberation warrior, Nika, existed. For the first time, Oda gave fans a glimpse of what the original Sun God looked like.

Nika can bring liberation or destruction
Sun God Nika is a concept that most fans of One piece I know very well until now. He is one of the most revered gods in One Piece and for good reason. First introduced to the story through the character Who's Who, Nika was revealed to be a deity that the slaves held very close to their hearts. When Who's Who was thrown into prison for not protecting Gomu Gomu no Mi, he was mockingly asked by the warden to pray to the Sun God for salvation. This is because all the slaves in the Holy Land of Marijoa pray to the Sun God, believing that one day, he will appear and free them from their misery and free them from their chains, bringing laughter and joy to their faces. Nika is said to be the Liberation Warrior – a man who has a booming, infectious laugh – and a guy with a rubber body who can do almost anything he wants. In battle, he is unpredictable and his only limiter is his own imagination. He has the most ridiculous power in the entire world and this is the power that Luffy currently has through Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika.
According to Harley, our world has already been destroyed twice. — The embers
The Elbaf arc of One Piece gave fans a lot of information about Nika. Not only did it confirm that Nika has her own fruit personality and ended up choosing Luffy, but it also revealed that before Luffy, there were two different Nikas. The other Nika that fans know is, of course, Joy Boy. He existed during the Void Age and was born in the splendid and rich Ancient Kingdom. He was the first pirate to ever set sail and the greatest threat to the countries of the world, who eventually banded together to form a group known as the Alliance in an attempt to defeat the Ancient Kingdom.
However, long before the Ancient Kingdom and Joy Boy, there was another Nika, and this was the first and original Sun God. Vegapunk confirmed to fans that this Sun God has his roots in Elbaf, meaning he was a giant who was born in this country.

Oda finally shows fans the original sun god
Fans didn't know if Oda would ever show them the design of the real Sun God, Nika. However, One Piece chapter 1136 was absolutely significant in this regard. In the Elbaf arc of the story, fans got to see the true Sun God for the first time. It is no surprise to know that the Sun God is well respected in the land of the giants. He is their only deity after all. According to the old writings of the Giant named Harley, which seems to have several translations, the world of One Piece has been destroyed twice in the past. Every time the world was destroyed, the name of the Sun God Nika was invoked, meaning that Nika itself is synonymous with the destruction of the world.
In times of great need, Nika always descends upon the world! – Clapp
Even then the Giants of Elbaf don't know if Nika is the one who destroyed the world or the one who saved it. But what they do know is that whenever the world is about to change a lot, Nika always shows up. This is precisely why world leaders fear the appearance of Nika, because it means the destruction of the world order.

One Piece: Why the Sun God Will Destroy the World
The Sun God could be a destroyer. Why it could destroy the One Piece world is a mystery.
In the same chapter, through the character Jarul, fans got to see the Sun God Nika for the first time. The original Sun God only wore a lion cloth around his waist and a belt over it like Luffy does. He has white clouds around his neck, signifying Nika's power, as well as long white hair, much longer than Luffy's. All of his clothes are said to be white, which fans are familiar with through Luffy. A massive difference between Nika and Luffy is that the original Nika carries a sword and a shield. In one hand, Nika wields a dagger-like sword, and in the other, he carries a shield – presumably the Svallin Sun Shield. Just like Luffy, this Nika strikes the same pose and on top of that, she is seen with a huge smile on her face. Clearly, this is the original Sun God that fans are eager to see more of.
Who did the original Nika fight long ago?
The real Nika could have fought the enemy of the world
It is not known who the real Nika fought long ago, but what is clear is that his appearance was indeed due to a catastrophe. Nika only appears when the world is about to change a lot. Moreover, Nika oversaw the destruction of the world twice – once through Joy Boy and once through the original Sun God. Fans already know that the World Government was responsible for destroying the world 900 years ago. But, no cookies were provided as to how and why the world was destroyed long ago. Perhaps the giant snake that is popular in Elbaf mythology, mentioned long ago by Dorry and Brogy, was the enemy of the real Nika. Or, it could have been the God of the Sea himself, whose reincarnation could be Imu, just as Luffy possesses the power of the Nika fruit. One thing is clear – there are many secrets yet to be revealed One piece and things keep getting more interesting.
One Piece can be read through Viz Media. The series can be read by fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and Manga Plus apps. The release date for the next One Piece chapter, One Piece 1136, is set for January 19, 2025.
