With just over a week until Sonic 3 hits theaters, Sega and Paramount have started promotion for three. This included 12 hours of Sonic-themed giveaways throughout Wednesday afternoon and evening, with prizes up for grabs including plushies, t-shirts and a really ugly Christmas sweater to remind us how far we've come.

Wearing a Christmas-themed sweater that isn't aesthetically pleasing has become a holiday tradition, but I can't imagine you've ever seen one as ugly as this one. Aptly dubbed the Ugly Sonic Jumper, included in Paramount's promotional giveaways was a jumper featuring the original design for the film version of the Blue Blur.

For those who have forgotten the Ugly Sonic saga, and if your brain has intentionally erased it from your memory, then luckily, ahead of the hedgehog's big screen debut, a trailer has revealed to the world what a live-action CGI Sonic would look like. Simply put, it was terrible. So terrible, and the backlash so loud, that Paramount delayed the release of the film so that Sonic's design could be revised, with the end result being much more acceptable because it actually looks like Sonic.

Five years later, it's nice to see that Paramount can poke fun at itself and the Sonic design that nearly derailed the adaptation before it was even released. The pullover reveal even includes footage from the original film, acting as an unwelcome reminder that the OG design for Sonic's hands was almost as bad as his face. The reveal of the sweater was paired with Donut Lord seeing Sonic for the first time, screaming before shooting the original's design with a tranquilizer dart.

As for the sweater, it's not just the big old image of Sonic's original movie face that makes it ugly. The color scheme and the incorporation of what appear to be stretched out Ugly Sonic silhouettes really add to the fact that this is one of the worst holidays ever created.

Even before the trailer debuted in 2019, images of Sonic's legs had fans fearing the worst, as anticipation suggested that Paramount had made the hedgehog look far too human.

Unfortunately, if you just learn about the existence of this jumper, you've already lost your chance to win it. Paramount's 12 hours of giveaways have already come to an end, meaning the lucky owner of what appears to be a one-of-a-kind Ugly Sonic Christmas jumper has already been determined. The same goes for chili dog flavored candy canes. Yes, they really were a prize and I will have the winner send me one if they see this. I need to know what they taste like.
