A creative LEGO set inspired by PlayStation 2 can be officially produced after being submitted by a fan. The unique build would allow fans to build the legendary PS2 console out of LEGO bricks, right down to its controllers and internals.
First released in 2000, Sony's PlayStation 2 became the best-selling game console of all time until it was dethroned by the Nintendo Switch in December 2024. More than 4,000 games are expected to be released for the hardware in over its lifetime, the PS2 sold over 4,000 games. 160 million units globally to date. 25 years later, the console's legacy continues to be a common topic of conversation in the gaming space, with major releases for Final Fantasy, Hearts of the Kingdomand grand theft auto franchises on the PS2 have been called some of the best. Recently, a creative fan found a new way to show love for Sony's legendary home gaming console, and their design may finally make its way into homes around the world.

Nintendo reveals the release date of the new LEGO set
Two of the Nintendo and LEGO franchises are collaborating again for some new themed sets that will be released later in January 2025.
A post by user RippleDrive on the LEGO Ideas website details plans for a LEGO PS2 set, which has garnered enough support to be officially considered by the Danish company for mass production. If released, the set would allow PlayStation fans to not only build a PS2 console out of LEGO bricks, but also create its controllers, memory cards and internal components. In its current state, the set contains over 2,000 pieces and is close to 1:1 scale compared to the original non-slim PlayStation 2. While it's unclear if it will get Sony's approval, fans are crossing their fingers that the design will hit store shelves sometime in the future. According to RippleDrive, they chose to build the PS2 because it is their “favorite video game console of all time” and “video game-related LEGO sets have been successful.”
The user-submitted LEGO PS2 set can be officially released
Throughout 2024, many video game-inspired LEGO sets have been successful with builders around the world, including those inspired by Animal Crossing: New Horizons TO Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario 64. His release LEGO Horizon Adventures for PC, PS5 and Nintendo Switch in November also inspired a unique set featuring protagonist Aloy, her ally Varl, and fully articulated Sawtooth and Shell-Walker machines.
In recent years, the LEGO series of video games created by Traveller's Tales has found new popularity, with titles such as the iconic LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga finding massive success after its initial release in 2022. While no new LEGO titles have been announced for 2025, fans are hoping to see new crossovers, with many predicting that a new LEGO Marvel title could be on the horizon.
