A new interview focusing on Keanu Reeves' role as Shadow in Sonic 3 seems to have accidentally revealed the first look at Super Shadow and Super Sonic.

Ever since Shadow the Hedgehog was first teased in the credits for Sonic 2, fans have theorized that the next film will closely follow the character's origins and basically act as a retelling of Sonic Adventure 2. Ignoring how many Sonic games are tackled , it goes over, everything we've seen of Sonic 3 so far seems to confirm that this is indeed the case.

Maria will be absolutely wasted in the next threequel.

While there are already some clear differences between Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic 3 (like Shadow wielding a gun), the similarities mean fans have a long list of story beats to expect to see, like Maria getting shot. The jury is still out, but a new interview seems to have accidentally confirmed a big moment to come.

Earlier this week, following the release of Sonic 3's final trailer, Screen Rant released a behind-the-scenes presentation featuring the cast of Sonic 3 talking about Keanu Reeves as Shadow. Between interviews and photos showing Reeves and other actors in the booth, new images from Sonic 3 are also shown.

While most of the footage isn't all that revealing, there is one shot halfway through the film that teases a pretty big moment. As pointed out by Twitter user KellytoyDK, a brief shot is shown of the Space Colony Arc preparing to fire a massive laser at Earth, which is presumably piloted by Robotniks.

As the Space Colony Ark is shown, two golden figures can be seen flying up to it and seemingly trying to stop it. I probably don't need to tell you this, but this feels like an accidental introduction to Super Sonic and Super Shadow for the first time. While it was supposed to happen and has been heavily teased in recent trailers, it seems like a slip to have it shown here.

This won't come as a surprise to anyone familiar with Shadow's character arc, but it does suggest that he and Sonic will eventually stop fighting and team up to defeat the two Robotniks. It remains to be seen if Sonic 3 will follow the end of Adventure 2, so we at least have one big surprise to look forward to.
