Celebrities are flocking to watch the action at the Paris Olympics – among them perhaps Hollywood's most famous former A-listers.
Australian actress Nicole Kidman was seen in the crowd yesterday at the women's street skate event final at Place de la Concorde with husband Keith Urban and daughters Sunday Rose and Faith.
On the same day, Kidman's ex-husband, actor Tom Cruise, was spotted just a few kilometers away watching the women's artistic gymnastics qualification at the Bercy Arena.
Cruise was seen warmly greeting performer Lady Gaga at the Olympics Opening Ceremony. She was heard breaking the big news as she chatted with French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, introducing her long-time boyfriend Michael Polansky as her “fiancé”.
Celebrity watchers will be keeping an eye out for any Cruise and Kidman encounters as they both attend Olympic events: Hollywood's 'it' couple from the 90s have not been seen together in public since they split in 2001, despite the fact that they share two adopted children together.
The sighting comes after Kidman made some rare comments about her final years with Tom in a recent interview to mark the 25th anniversary of their last film together, Stanley Kubrick's 1999 erotic thriller. Eyes wide shut.
In it, the pair played an affluent New York couple, playing with notions of infidelity.
Two years after the film's release, Cruise filed for divorce, and the two have had few words about each other in public since then.
Talking to Los Angeles TimesKidman revealed that she and Cruise had a house 10 minutes away from London's Pinewood Studios, where it was filmed, but instead mostly stayed on set and “lived” in a trailer that they both shared it.
“Tom and I shared it because Stanley was like, 'You don't each get a trailer. We can not afford. Tom had a smaller surface area because he was running stuff. And they would play video games. (Minesweeper) was big then. So there was a lot of that,” she said.
The Australian actress revealed that a moment in the film took her by surprise when it was shown to the public as she was honored for her work at the 49th AFI Life Achievement Awards.
The scene showed Kidman's character stripped down to her underwear and smoking marijuana. She said she was suddenly aware that she was sitting with her 16-year-old daughter on Sunday.
Sunday's reaction to seeing a glimpse of one of her mother's raciest roles? “She said, 'Mom, that was good.'
At the same event, an emotional Urban took the stage to talk about the rough times he and Kidman had in the early part of their marriage.
Fighting back tears, Urban told the audience, “We got married in June of 2006 and barely four months into our marriage, addictions that we hadn't really done anything about tore our marriage apart.”
“Four months into a marriage and I've been in rehab for three months with no idea what was going to happen to us. If you want to see what love really looks like in action, give it a whirl,” he continued.
“Nic pushed away every negative voice — I'm sure even some of them — and chose love. And here we are tonight 18 years later.”
