Specifically, the game should take place in the entire city of Lumiose, which will be expanded in terms of its size and probability. Pokemon Legends: ZA's second trailer and release window
For starters, with the game coming in 2025, what's almost guaranteed to happen is a new trailer showing off the gameplay. There is currently no release date or window for Pokemon Legends: ZAbut leaks indicate that the game is planned to be released between March and June 2025. However, it is unclear if these plans have changed since last year Game Freak was hit by a hacker attack that resulted in 1TB of files about Pokémon the franchise being expired. This leak reportedly included information about Pokemon Legends: ZA and even a playable version of it, but the hacker behind the so-called TeraLeak hasn't revealed much about it.
Renowned leaker Riddler Khu pointed out that Pokemon Legends: ZA was originally planned to be released earlier, but according to TeraLeak it should now come out between April and July.
As such, a second trailer for the game is most likely to appear in the first quarter of this year. One could argue that Pokemon Day 2025, which takes place on February 27, would be the perfect time for a new trailer, although some sources have claimed that it could be released before then, between January and early February. The trailer will likely include gameplay elements such as battles, traversal skills, how evolution works, starters, Poke Balls, and possibly new Megas.
Pokemon Legends: ZA brings back Mega Evolutions
Mega Evolutions return in Pokemon Legends: ZA it means that most, if not all, of the previous ones are likely to return. Additionally, new Mega Evolutions are all but confirmed if Game Freak intends to keep things fresh. There are currently 48 Mega Evolutions in the franchise, split into 30 for Gen 6 games and 18 for Gen 3 remakes, so it's plausible that Pokemon Legends: ZA may include at least 15-20 new Megas. The leaks suggest that 21 new Mega Evolutions will be in the game, which is plausible with this prediction.
Items held over from Pokemon games usually play an important role in gameplay, but they were missing in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. However, Gen 6's Mega Evolutions required creatures to hold those Mega Stones, so it's unclear if Pokemon Legends: ZA will bring back the held items or find a new method for Mega Evolutions to work.
Pokemon Legends: Post-release support from ZA
While the game hasn't been officially released yet, it's not unlikely that it will receive some form of post-launch support in 2025. Pokemon Legends: Arceus it got a big update after launch, but there were rumors of a DLC in the works. It remains to be seen if Pokemon Legends: ZA will follow the same pattern, but it seems plausible that it will.
All the big Pokemon Legends: ZA Leaks so far
Some leaks for Pokemon Legends: ZA indicates that the game is being developed for both the Nintendo Switch and its successor, with the latter presumably having improved performance overall. There have also been leaks regarding the return of Pokemon and new Megas, including:
Mega Zeraora and Mega Zygarde make sense given the emphasis on the letter “z” in the title and how Zygarde was a legendary Pokémon in Gen 6. Other leaks mention that the game will be set in modern Kalos, though that remains to be seen if he'll make it a prequel or sequel to the Gen 6 games – meaning it won't be set in the distant past. that Pokemon Legends: Arceuswhich seems likely based on the first trailer.
Pokemon Legends: ZA Starter Leaks and Predictions Explained
It's worth noting that no starter has been shown for the upcoming title so far. However, leaks show that Pokemon Legends: ZA will feature Gen 6 starters as their own, but with some differences from their original versions. Although Pokemon Legends: Arceus featured three debutants from the entire franchise (namely, Rowlett from Gen 7, Cyndaquil from Gen 2, and Oshawott from Gen 5), it would make sense for Pokemon Legends: ZA to revisit Gen 6 starters as they didn't get Mega Evolutions even in their native games.
On the other hand, it would also make sense to include Gen 6 starters Pokemon Legends: ZA and give them new Mega Evolutions and/or Regional Forms and then use the same formula as Pokemon Legends: Arceus. As such, it might be a good choice to include three starters from different generations, and some leaks have mentioned that Pokemon Legends: ZA The starters would be Gens 3, 5 and 8. As this is highly unconfirmed, it remains to be seen what approach will be used.
