Where to find all the hidden reefs in Mario & Luigi: Brotherhood

Mario & Luigi: Brotherhood is full of optional side quests, mini-games, secrets and collectibles. Virtually every inch of every island has something to discover if you look hard enough, but there's one secret you'll only find in the ocean: Hidden Reefs.

You still have time to guarantee yourself a place in Fratia.

When you first arrive on Shipshape Island, you'll meet a young woman named Issa Rock. Issa sits on the north side of the island facing the sea and when you talk to her she will ask you to find 20 hidden reefs. These stone structures are scattered across the five seas of Concordia, so you'll have to track them down. If you're having trouble finding them all and want to know what you can get to find them, this guide has all the details you need, guaranteed.

You will have to progress almost to the end of the game before you can find all 20 reefs. It's perfectly fine to wait until just before the grand finale to go back and watch them all.

Reefs hidden by lush green sea

Lushgreen Sea is Mario and Luigi's first stop in Concordia. I am three Hidden Reefs to find here all located along the southern border of this region.

Weeping Lion Reef

This aptly named reef can be found in southwest corner of the Lushgreen Sea. Weeping-Lion Reef is probably the first you'll find.

Thinking Reef

This reef, inspired by Rodin's The Thinker, is east of Weeping Lion Reef.

Pensive Reef is easy to miss if you only take the shortest route to Great Lighthouse Island.

Reef Squiddish

Squiddish Reef looks like half a blooper rising from the sea. You you can find it on your right as you head south from the Lushgreen Sea to the Colorful Sea

Broque Reef

Broque, the fancy kind of breaking. Broque Reef can be found in the middle of the colorful seagrab it as soon as you enter the region.

Just-a-Fluke Reef

A whale tail is coming out of the westernmost area of Color-Full Sea. Just-a-Fluke Reef is hard to miss.

Ominous reef

After dealing with Sharkbone on Allsand Island, this reef is basically a scare. Look for the Ominous Reef in the southwest corner of the colorful Sea.

Mysterious swirling reef

I am two reefs side by side in the southeast corner of the Color-Full Sea. The first, and most disgusting, is a poop-shaped reef called the Mysterious Swirl Reef. Okay Nintendo.

Eternal Battle Reef

The last reef in Color-Ful Sea looks like two crabs fighting for a Super Star. You can find the Eternal-Struggle reef next to the mysterious poop-shaped reef.unfortunately.

If you have to backtrack to find any of these reefs, remember that you can navigate much faster if you press X while looking at the sea map.

Hidden Reefs of the Brrrning Sea

By the time you get to the Brrrning Sea, you've seen most of the Brotherhood Islands, but don't worry, there's more to see! I am five more Hidden Reefs to find here.

Shower reef

This reef features a showerfish, one of the most unsettling enemies in Brotherhood. You can find the shower reef in the northern part of the Brrrning Seajust off the exit to Gulchrock Sea.

Mushroom reef

It looks like a scary mushroom or, for short, a fungus. Personally, I would have called it a Spookyshroom, but you can find Mushroob Reef right in the center of the Brrrning Sea.

Reef Racers

This is the prettiest reef in the entire Concordia Ocean. You can find Racers' Reef, a bunny surfing on a turtle, in the southeast Brrrning Sea.

Rooted turnip reef

Rooted-Turnip Reef features a grampy turnip, another of the Brotherhood's collectibles. You can find this cute guy in the southeast of the Brrrning Seaeast of Racers' Reef.

Feather family reef

This little bunch of birds is all the way on the east side of the Brrrning Sea. Feathered-Family Reef is exactly what it sounds like, a family of birds.

Hidden Reefs of the Gulchrock Sea

I am five hidden reefs in the Gulchrok Sea. Here's where to find them all.

Cater-Pillar Reef

The Wiggler is a Mario RPG icon, but the only sign of the cute guy in Brotherhood is this reef. You will find Cater-Pillar Reef in the southwest corner of Gulchrock Sea.

Reef off course

I don't know where this rocket is going, but it's going somewhere. Off course reef can be found appropriately off course in southwest Gulchrock Sea.

Reef of love

The description of this reef says “Here bell lovers and enthusiasts converge”. But who doesn't love bells? Lovestruck Reef is right in the middle of the Gulchrock Sea.

Tumbling-Tower Reef

I am two very close reefs at the northern end of the Gulchrock Seaalthough you will reach them by very different routes. Tumbling=Tower Reef is a tower of Goombas you'll find in the current that looks like a ladder.

Guardian Reef Dream

For big Mario & Luigi fans, this reef is a reference to Zeekeeper, a character from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. You will find Guardian Dream Reef in the northwest corner of Gulchrock Sea.

StormStar Sea Hidden Reefs

I am two reefs hidden in StormStar Sea.

Gardener's Reef

A watering can shaped reef is the penultimate hidden reef in Brotherhood. You can find gardener's reef in the northwest corner of the Stormstar Sea.

Princely Reef

This reef bears a striking resemblance to Prince Peasley, a supporting character in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. Maybe Peasley once rode his flying bob at Concordia?

You will find this reef in the northernmost current of the Stormstar Seabut you won't have access to it until you do upgrade Shipshape Island with the ability to travel long distances in a moment…

Hidden Reef Award in Mario & Luigi Brotherhood.

After finding all the hidden reefs, return to Issa Rock on Shipshape Island to claim your prize: HP+BP bracelet.

This accessory will allow the wearer to recover three percent of their maximum HP and BP at the end of each turn.
